Came to Jacksonville Florida in 1977. Radums were all over the place for under $1000 and as low as $300. I never liked them, because I'm a Colt guy and was only looking for them. Had I known their true value, I would've stocked up on them at every show. And thank you, sir, for expanding your horizons to include Colts, as well as your favorite German mfg'd firearms.

Well, if you're going to take the Fiala pistol up to the Arctic all the time it should work GREAT! However, where I live a Colt Woodsman Sport model will be best; which is what I had when I was a younger man. Let's GO RANDY!

I saw a Fiala Pistol (as you showed) at a now defunct Gun Shop in California in 1975 or so. I did think it was something along the lines of a Colt Woodsman and found out it was not. I did not collect old firearms in those days and probably didn't have the money at the time either. Sigh...

Great video! Those gardens are definitely moving up in value. I see that WWII 1911's in general are skyrocketing compared to two years ago.

THANKS for showing!! ("Radom") ViS wz.35 - in TOTAL a little more than 50.000 ex. made in free Poland (not under German occupation). The LAST ONE 100% Polish that went out from the FB factory, only few MINUTES before the Germans arrived, was the serial number 52518. After that, the Poles made a huge pile of pistols in the backyard (more than 2 meters high), and put it on fire with gasoline. When Germans entered the factory (it was September the 8th 1939, about 3 PM), they have the fire stopped and retrieved the pistols (after changing the plastic grips and springs, they used them). In 1938, the pistols made are serial numbered from #8808 to #27450. (the scarcest year being the 1937: only from #5361 to #8807).

The year in the ejection port isn´t the year the gun was born. Thats a provemark from the weapons proof office (Beschussamt in german), many WKII guns and prior were proofed after the war, so that there werde legal to buy by regular customers (collectors are exepted, they get a special permission, but aren´t allowed to shoot unproofed guns) Just for example, my 1938 K98 Mauser is proofed 1971, so it has 71 stamped on it, my other 1937 K98 Mauser has 78 stamped on it, because ist was proofed 1978.

I carried a Colt 1911 Navy while standing watch back in the 60's. I didn't think it was that old. The 1911 was made out of the spear of destiny and an ex-wife, that's why it kills your body and soul.

Old pistols are interesting. Amazing how many have survived in near perfect condition.

The fire blue colour on these parts of the Colt 1903 is nice and much lighter than on any other gun I saw. Is there a reason for that? Such as material or so?

If the Fiala magazine can be loaded with 10 rounds, is it not a “repeater” rather than a single shot? Single shot to me says a gun only holds one round in the chamber.

Loading that 22 as a single shot directly in the barrel is hard on the extractor as it has to jump over the rim of the cartridge. It is designed to be loaded from the magazine and the cartridge will slide behind the extractor when loaded that way.
