This is such great insight, I didn’t know your face has to be damp when applying serums and moisturizer! I used to remove my makeup with wipes and never realized the damage it was causing, even when it felt like pulling my face. I’m so glad I switched to double cleansing: It’s gentler on my skin and it actually removes makeup at once. One personal switch I made on my routine is to dab my face with bamboo washcloths instead of cotton ones, mainly for softness and antibacterial purposes. To be honest, I don’t miss them.

These are great tips! I feel like the pillowcase hygiene is something I didn’t learn about at all and has helped a lot. My main problem is that I literally have thick skin. I’m finishing my PhD in molecular genetics and I’ve read a lot of literature about physical and chemical exfoliants. I use products that you've mentioned and they have helped my skin texture and acne a ton - Niacinamide with zinc, AHA and BHA toners/peeling solution, azelaic acid, and tretinoin. However, I get clogged pores cystic acne if I don't consistently use my Clarisonic. I think most people over exfoliate and don't need to do half of what they do, but there are some of us that need both. Just my two cents. So happy you're near 50k!!!

idk sounds like you may have yourself in a loop, a perpetuating cycle if you will. Like if you stopped doing that your skin would be still over exhausting itself like it was when you do all those things. Your skin may be overcompensating. I would really recommend seeing a dermatologist because in the long run all that "extra" could be damaging your skin over time. You may be fixing one problem, but creating another. Been there, done that.
@caitlin7220

I have seen a dermatologist. That’s how I got the tretinoin. Some people have extremely poor cellular turnover that cannot be combated by chemical exfoliants alone. I stopped using my clarisonic for months due the hype around physical exfoliants creating micro tears etc. and it was horrible for my skin.
@americanfairy

I'm in the same boat. Between my acne-prone skin, and my mild eczema, the "glue" that holds my dead skin cells is super strong. I use prescription Retin-A Micro a few nights a week, and a BHA toner most mornings, but I still dealt with massive pilling of products and flaking skin. It doesn't help that most physical exfoliants, including the Clarisonic, is too harsh for my sensitive skin. I was using microfiber cloths when I was cleansing my face, and they worked quite well. I recently switched to a vibrating silicone face scrubber and it has been an absolute game changer for me. Some of us really do need that extra exfoliation lol.
@caitlin7220
@caitlin7220 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly! The sticky pore glue is the worst! I have heard so much about those silicone face brushes. I saw PMD was in a ton of sub boxes. I’m considering getting on bc Clarisonic went out of business, so it’s hard to get the brush heads.

Hey Abbey, this was a great idea for a video! I'm sure it will be helpful for many. Something to consider about side sleeping...Chest wrinkles! I have been a stomach/side sleeper my whole life until this last year (mostly back sleep now). I have deep wrinkles on my chest from from years of side sleeping!

I can't sleep on my back. I have tried for over a year. I can lay there for an hour and not go to sleep. Roll to my side and boom asleep in minutes! I also have a special pillow for.back sleeping but didn't help me. I also love to put my hand beto my face a d the pillow. Awful.. because my hand cream breaks me out and it's pushing on my face..more wrinkles. But even if I can try and not have my hand there when I go to sleep..I often wake up with it there😭. But I will keep trying. Thanks for the great videos. I bought a couple of satin pillowcases and love them. But my 6 yr old son took one lol So I need more! Thank you!

Great video, thanks! I do have a question: what do you think about foreo for washing your face? Is that too abrasive as well? I think it is relying more on the micro vibration for cleaning than actually running the skin.

I use satin pillowcases because of my curls (and I'm way too cheap to pay for silk, lol). Because I sleep on my side and don't want face wrinkles, I put a satin pillowcase over my travel neck pillow that's U-shaped. I place the pillow with the U part going behind my ear so it supports my head without touching my face at all. Booom! No wrinkles! I've started using medical grade silicone patches over good skincare on my decolletage to counteract the line that started to form between my boobs from sleeping on my side. So far, it's almost entirely gone already and I've only used the patches for a couple weeks. ♡

Hi, do you use a second cleanser? I would really recommend using a foaming or gel cleanser for your second cleanse. It will remove the residue as well making sure you have removed all of your sunscreen or makeup. Have you ever wet you face after and wiped your face with a face cloth and still got stains on it after using your cold cream? I hope that helps 😊

I got it on sale the other day. Yuck. It’s so gross. It’s like a cheap version of albolene. If you want an affordable first cleanse, hada labo cleansing oil washes off completely. It doesn’t just rub your makeup around on your face. It’s the only oil/balm cleanse I’ve used that I didn’t need a cloth to remove excess mascara at least. I’ve gotten so many compliments lately & it’s all I switched. I stopped getting hormonal breakouts on my chin also. I think the rubbing, no matter how gentle, was causing irritation. I get my hada labo off eBay for $10-$13 & it lasts awhile.

Hi Abbey, Such a great video 😘. I never ever used make-up wipes on my face to remove make-up. What I used to do was to double cleanse. Instead of this now I use Micellar Water. Since I have purchased the Cerave Cleanser and Facial Moisturising Lotion I do dampen face and this makes this easier when applying these products. Thank you for this video 😘 and look forward to your next video 💕.

I would say skip on them. Google some articles about It, dermatologists say that best thing you can do is washing face with clean hands. Those silicone brushes and Foreos I guess would be so hard to keep antibacterial. They cost a lot also. Don't fall for marketing, keep it simple 😉🙂 Im a shopaholic and love tech gadgets, but its just unnecessary to spend on.

Hi! I have the drmtlgy Anti Aging line and I have dry skin that needs alot of hydration i have the hydrating cleanser, CE serum, needless serum, soothe and recovery cream and peptide night cream. I just purchased the retinol, hydration boost and the age reversal eye cream.. can you please tell me what order to use all of the products in morning and night and when to use the retinol?
@lorainemcgillivray77
@lorainemcgillivray77 3 жыл бұрын
Hi the retinol is for night and the vit c is for morning, the soothe cream could be used in the morning and the peptide cream at night, eye cream can be both as can the needleless serum and hydration boost. Apart from the retinol everything else can be used morning or night really, so it will depend on what your skin needs on a daily basis. Some days you may not want too many layers and just use one serum under a moisturiser, or you may want to layer if your skin feels more dehydrated or drier. The website will give you info about which products can be used together or shouldn't be. Hope that helps.
