I'm a stroke survivor and I am back at home with my dogs which they saved my life. They were both sleeping with me on my bed and not under the blankets. When I woke up to go to the toilet and I knew that something was wrong with me. My feet & legs wouldn't work so I had an old walking stick beside my bed for one of those just in case days. I tried to walk there but I couldn't. So I used my walking stick to help me. After I had finished,I must've slipped on the floor and I tried to stand but I couldn't. I had pulled down my bath towels to help me to slide out of the bathroom I ended up beside my bed where my dogs were sleeping. They both knew I was in trouble and they both jumped down and alerted my dad. He came in and found me on the floor. He rang the local Ambulance service to take me to hospital to get treated immediately with medication and surgery. Then transferred to a Rehab Centre for the next few months to recover properly. After 3 months of Rehab, I was then sent back home where my 2 dogs was waiting for me at the gates. They're were so happy to see me back home. It's been 9 months since my stroke. I am now walking again with more strength and stamina than before. I have another check up in March, back at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. The doctors & nurses took care of me so well that I am grateful for their help.

¡Me inspiran! Does my dad have stroke? My dad developed numbness in his right arm while driving and then it subsided and hasn't come back until he told me about it (which is around 6 hours after)...but so far, there's no lack or loss of movement in any of his limbs or facial features... He doesn't have any memory problem but he did have trouble conveying his thoughts...like he wanted to say something but forgot the word for it... He has diabetes and high cholesterol and high BP...he's in his early 50s...how likely will he have stroke?

Does the sudden onset severe headache ( #5) have a brief duration? Would a sudden onset headache that lingers throughput the day be a symptom of a stroke

What’s the point of knowing this if you see someone having a stroke, get them to the ER, and then the docs refuse to treat or transfer?
