My brother, age 72, hated to go to the doctor. His wife begged him to go to the doctor, as he had agonizing back pain. The doctor pulled blood and sent it to the lab. The doctor called my brother to come in ASAP. He gave my brother the results, and the doctor told him he was going straight to a cancer hospital. He was there 2 weeks when they confirmed the results: multiple myeloma. Please, family and general practice doctors, learn the early signs, so that patients can get early treatment. My brother now is getting a stem cell transplant. Please pray for him. His name is Jim.

Hi Monica how is your brother Jim tolerating the stem cell transplant? I am 75 and recently have MGUS with both neurological problems of my hands and feet and elevated BUN and Creatinine. No broken bones yet. More test to come in the current week. I was stationed at Camp Lejeune and intend to file suit against the Marine Corp for poisonings me there. Any chance your brother was a Marine or Navy Corpsman as well? I am not certain I want to even accept treatment other then what I am doing for myself. Wish you well and your brother hope and recovery❤️🙏

My Pcp was a young fresh woman. However don’t let she fool you! She saved my life by finding MM early! For years I can look back and see different issues I had and no one found it but she did! I went into her office complaining how my arse hurt. It was not going down my leg. Like a ball around my anus. Left side and it was painful between my lady parts and my left leg. The inner thigh like right where the panty line would be? Well she heard my complaints and said “ let’s see what am x ray would do.” She spotted it right away and sent me to MRI the NEXT DAY! ( thank u love her ♥️) she called my on Christmas Eve to confirm what she saw. I am a white female, 48 years old. I am so grateful for her quick thinking and actually LISTENING to me when others did not. Xoxo 💋

Omg I've been having horrible symptoms and getting really sick. My latest is exactly what you described except its mostly numb on my inner thigh and the outside of my hip hurts. Literally yesterday I noticed a ball in the same spot as you. I can't get anyone to seriously. I don't know what's wrong with me. Im desperate and seriously feel like they are going to let me die.

My dad had Multiple Myeloma . He was a very stoic man ,never went to the doctor, until he went to the doctor for back pain. The doctor told him he was old and that it was to be expected at his age of 70. So he went home with no diagnosis. He went back a few months later complaining that the pain was getting worse, still the doctor sent him away. Finally ,his kidneys stopped working and he could no longer urinate so this time he bypassed his incompetent doctor and was taken straight to the ER . He was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and died 2 weeks later. I feel so awful that he had to endure all that pain for so long without getting any help. If the doctor would have just gotten some routine blood work it would have lead any competent doctor to be suspicious that there was something serious going on. He was a good man, a good father and grandfather.

Your experience is similar to mine. In my case, it was my mother. She complained of similar symptoms as your dad's but doctors kept saying it was old age. The true diagnosis came in 2021 but by that time, the multiple myeloma was at stage 3. My mum died a month ago. I feel betrayed by the health system.

Yes I agree. I'm finding it disgusting how many medical 'professionals' say it's not their area of expertise while at the same time saying 'it's probably nothing to be worried about' and then prescribing medications that can cause anemia and stress the kidneys. These people are WAY too casual about dismissing a life threatening disease.

This was an excellent presentation! I have been very ill for 2 1/2 years now, with very weird symptoms. I just had an appointment today with a new neurologist (first time was last year, and they didn't diagnose me with anything). My symptoms began with numbness and tingling in my left foot, and have gradually gotten much worse to full-blown neuropathy and muscle weakness in both feet and legs, with muscle cramping. I also have extreme fatigue which is debilitating most days, and I also have weird pains in my back ribs that come and go. I feel like this neurologist is actually taking me seriously, and she has ordered the appropriate lab tests (protein in blood and urine). I'm so tired of not feeling well, and feeling like no one cares to investigate and find out why! I just hope it's not too late, and that whatever I have hasn't gone too far to be treated. I don't want it to be myeloma, but there's definitely something terribly wrong!

I've been diagnosed with MGUS which can be a precursor for MM. Unfortunately, they say that MGUS is basically symptomless so I'm not sure why I am experiencing so much fatigue, pain and poor kidney function. I too feel like they are not taking me seriously. I eat well, stay active, manage my weight and work out regularly, but feel like an elderly man despite me being 50. Not sure how much longer I'll be able to work and without a diagnosed condition I can't qualify for disability . It is very frustrating and anxiety inducing.

i had weird symptoms with the hydrocephalus that returned after nearly 30 years. i fell down, which was a symptom but i also could not keep food down, which is not and i was always clear headed , even when i was at my sickest. i went to the er with VIOLENT dizzy spells, like nothing i have ever had and they kept saying it was anxiety. well, brain surgery sure cured my anxiety fast.

@@conservativeteacher1987I'm so sorry to hear that you're feeling so unwell! I can empathize with the horrible fatigue and pain, and it really does induce anxiety when you don't feel like anyone takes your symptoms seriously. Every appointment or lab test I have is spaced months apart, and I've been feeling sick almost 3 years now, with no answers. I also feel extremely old now, when before I was perfectly healthy and fit! I'm going to have to go back to work again soon, and I honestly don't know how I'm going to do it. I’ve been on a downhill path with health issues since July 2022. What started as a roller coaster of feeling fine for a few weeks into a week of practically being crippled, it spiraled out of control in January 2023. The whole body pain is unreal. Severe pain in my lower back, stabbing pain in my right kidney that spreads to the left. Chest pains. Shortness of breath. The fatigue and exhaustion is unlike anything I have been through. I went to the hospital Feb 6 2023, and the shipped me out on discharge with “nothing wrong”. My concern grows stronger each passing day. What I’ve got going on is not “nothing wrong”.

I can see that there are too many hands in the pot sort of saying, there should be cancer centers with the appropriate, and I mean fully qualified staff that knows that lives depend on their knowledge and experience, My wife of over 50 years have had back pain and it moves around, We have been to many appointments, with primary doctor, ortho surgeon, oncologist, pain doctor, labs and more labs, it is my personal opinion based on what such great doctors such as Dr. Landgren and the likes that some patients don't loose their lives, their knowledge level should be mandatory before any doctor intent to diagnose or treat a cancer patient and should send that patient to the right doctors, and avoid wasting months and months with tests they don't fully understand. Some of these symptoms are pretty clear and require certain test(s) if the medical profession would follow certain mandatory standard(s) where everyone in the chain would understand what are the proper most accurate path for a cancer diagnosis, then I think more lives could be save and a lot of pain and suffering would be avoided, it should not take 6 months, it should not take one month, to determine what is going on. I know that we can't have the cake and eat it, I'm pretty sure, doctors like him are fewer, that knowledge demands compensation, but yeah most doctors are not qualified to deal with cancer patients yet, maybe one day they will get there. There is no clear path to take when cancer is suspected. I can tell that, and more just by watching videos on You tube! I'm no doctor, but I can see what is going on and I can understand, not to a cellular degree but I can understand the general idea and that is all I need. The system is failing a lot of people! Hopefully there will be changes and advances to get rid of cancer completely, in the near future. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU! GOD BLESS THIS DOCTOR FOR SAVING LIVES! 👍👍👍

My mum is 85 and was diagnosed with this a week ago. It is in her entire spine mainly at the base and into her kidneys, her kidneys are base line and her liver is slightly raised she now has a chest infection and an oral fungal infection sadly this is the side effects of the myeloma as the immune system is low due to the cancer cells overtaking the good cells and not enough anti bodies to fight it. We have, as a family decided not to do anything invasive due to her age and how frail she has become since she went into the hospital 3 weeks ago. Prior to going into hospital with back pain, mum was independent at home , mobile without any aids and we thought it was arthritic pain and she’d be home sharpish, now due to being in a hospital bed for so long and the pain in her spine and back she now bed care and we are waiting to see if we can get her into the hospice . We never saw this coming and we just want the right pain relief so she can be as comfortable as possible and have quality time with her family.

When he said that "some patients had symptoms 6 months before diagnosis and that's a long time", as for the last three years I've had bacterial pneumonia 4 times, all Pre-cursors to multiple myeloma. So six months is not very long...it was three years before I was diagnosed! Just me having the money every year that I went to my doctor and asked almost begged to get a blood test to see if there's a reason for why I keep having them. Someone should have been concerned! Five times in the hospital five days each, since 2019 and this is 2022. I'm glad I was in advocate, but I shouldn't have to have begged for treatment.

I found it very sad that there are delays and diagnosing all kinds of cancers. With technology and education at hand, and the many instances insurance companies that will pay for these tests, doctors still fail to test for cancers. I right now have a sister who has fought for one year to have diagnosis of cancer everyone is ignored her, she is had colonoscopies blood work and everything run. If symptoms of sore throat sinus issues neck pain, no doctor diagnosed her squamous cell Baseline tongue cancer. I find that unbelievable! She had good insurance and everyone ignored her! I’m furious if I think about my husband’s primary care totally missed his multiple myeloma because no 58 year old should be anemic. I told my husband that this wasn’t normal and to talk to his doctor about more testing. The doctor poo-pood him and several months later he was gravely ill with MM.

I am a 55 year old woman and I have been watched for multiple myeloma for 6 years! I was anemic I had Mgus protein.. but last January I developed carpal tunnel and back pain and neuropathy of one foot… I asked my hematologist if she wanted to see me sooner than my April appointment and she said no I should be fine! The I developed proteinuria and told my primary care physician that sent me to a nephrologist and he said I am sick and have a disease and he sent me to get a kidney biopsy.that showed Amyloidosis which is a sister disease of multiple myeloma! 5 days later I had a stroke! All summer I have had testing fat tissue biopsy ,pet scan and I just had a bone marrow biopsy that will prove multiple myeloma! I started chemotherapy yesterday and it’s the treatment for both diseases! Don’t be furious with your doctor. It’s hard to diagnose! My doctor missed it for 6 yrs …she could have just gave me a biopsy! I fired her and have another hematologist! I hope chemotherapy will help me recover!

It could also mean lung cancer. Call your doctor asap, explain your symptoms and hopefully they’ll request a CT scan.

I hate to ask: but how is your father doing today? Did he pass away? I am 75 with a positive MGUS currently with neurological and kidney disease. I will be having my bone marrow biopsy soon. Not sure what to do. Did the pain and suffering of treatment actually help your Dad?I am a realist and need to know now what to do and what my near future is. God bless.

@@thomasfraser9072 unfortunately my dad passed away about a year after I posted this here. March 13, 2022 made it a year already since he is gone. I pray that God the Lord of healings will touch you. Remember! He has plan for everyone.
