This is the first video on the use of Commstat, a companion program to the Amateur Radio software and mode, JS8Call (a weak signal mode, ideal for long distances using low power). Commstat turns the raw data received in JS8Call into a visual "dashboard," allowing you to map stations heard, as well as see the color-coded STATREP data in a grid display.
In this video, three basic features are covered:
1. STATREP (submitting/sending a Status Report)
2. Display filter settings
3. Flash Bulletin feature
This is a great tool for prepper comms, emcomms, or other grid-down emergency preparedness communications when you're hungry for information during a disaster, whether regional or nationwide.
You DO NOT need to be licensed to download and use the software if you are receiving only. You only need to be licensed to transmit on the Amateur Radio bands. These are great situational awareness tools for anyone!
There are MANY more features built into JS8Call and Commstat, and we'll cover those in an upcoming video series, so subscribe and be alerted when we post new videos.
