Commstat for JS8Call | STATREP Intro

Жыл бұрынThis is the first video on the use of Commstat, a companion program to the Amateur Radio software and mode, JS8Call (a weak signal mode, ideal for long distances using low power). Commstat turns the raw data received in JS8Call into a visual "dashboard," allowing you to map stations heard, as well as see the color-coded STATREP data in a grid display.
In this video, three basic features are covered:
1. STATREP (submitting/sending a Status Report)
2. Display filter settings
3. Flash Bulletin feature
This is a great tool for prepper comms, emcomms, or other grid-down emergency preparedness communications when you're hungry for information during a disaster, whether regional or nationwide.
You DO NOT need to be licensed to download and use the software if you are receiving only. You only need to be licensed to transmit on the Amateur Radio bands. These are great situational awareness tools for anyone!

wonderful...workin on getting digital back up. new to me radio,tuner and antenna,let alone the digirig. all of which is giving me a hard time setting up. Voice is doing well though. hope all is well 73

Greetings, I am installing CommStat and I see Puerto Rico (U.S. territory) was not included in the settings! Is there a way to add it?

How about some net info for us gmrs & cb guys who do not want to become ham operators, for what ever reason/s?

It's coming. We have tons of videos lined up to produce covering a multitude of topics. However, if you're not setting up to AT LEAST RECEIVE digital mode traffic (shortwave radio, SDR, etc.) you're cheating yourself and your group out of valuable intel and news in a total grid/comms down environment. You don't have to be licensed to receive ham traffic.

@@amrron2689 I am the lone stranger out here in Lincoln County, Mo. There are no gmrs users that I can find. Mt very small group 3-4 members only use gmrs & cb.

Can someone make a video how to install Commstat. I tried to follow the instructions but I really need a dumbdown version. python is not my most skilled mode. Thanks JJS

I am completely computer illiterate, and while I had some issues, I got it up and running in under an hour. But yes, an instructional video would be beneficial. The directions on the AmRRON site are pretty good; there were some gaps that a little deductive reasoning filled. Good luck.
