Cool Forgotten Weapons merch! shop.bbtv.com/c...
Norinco is a huge consortium of manufacturing plants in China that make all manner of goods for export, including military hardware. One of Norinco's factories has been making copies of the American M14 rifle for export for some time, although they are not seen in the United States because Chinese rifle imports are prohibited. Canada has no such restriction, however, and because Canadian law specifically bans most other 7.62mm NATO semiauto rifles by name, the Norinco M14s (formally designated the M305) have become very popular there, in both original 22" and shortened 18.5" barrel lengths.
Just recently, the factory added another variation of the rifle - a conversion to 7.62x39mm, using AK magazines, called the M305A. This appears to have been a remarkably simply conversion, as the AK mag fits nicely into the receiver with only a minor change to the magazine support well in the stock. Sure, some might ask why one would want an M14 in 7.62x39...but those people are clearly not familiar with the firearms market. These smaller-caliber rifles are quite pleasant to shoot, and use much cheaper ammunition as well. They are substantially heavier than comparable rifles like the SKS, but have nicer aperture sights.
Thanks to Marstar for letting me examine and shoot one of the M305A rifles!

I think its depends on the rifle...like the m305 variants have always had a rapor of being questionable quality, then you go to type 97s and the first batch we seen had issues but they quickly addressed them. And the type 81's are a beast..I don't think these are being made at the same state level. I think the type 81 and 97 are made in a factory where the originals were made and possibly alot of the same employees are still there...theres a more present military grade QC visible. And along with the pistols we get...they seem to have a good following as a decent starter copy/ variants

I think it's that we're given to extremes and false Dichotomies. Either, or. When it doesn't have to be that way. And generalizations, too. Generalizations helps us become slaves to that false dichotomy, that we have to pick an extreme over another extreme, or else...something. It's a shame, I fucking despise Authoritarian Communists but Marx was spot on in his criticisms of Capitalism. On the other side of things, more people are impacted negatively by Capitalism than not, but those that benefit from it (and all of us in the West certainly do), are living better with it than before it took off, there are poor but the poor are having it a little easier than the poor in, say, South America. (Which is sad in its own right because we are more apt to write off our poor). It's best to be pragmatic, I think. Capitalism has given us many things but without the Labor movement we wouldn't have things like the 8-hour work day. Politicians turned us against each other.
@frysebox1
@frysebox1 7 жыл бұрын
There are barely any countries in the world today that can be accurately described as capitalist, most of the western world is corporatism blended with varying degrees of oligarchy and democracy. Communism is fucking retarded due to the fundemental fact that competition over resources is an integral concept in evolution. How people fail to realize that approaching both individual humans and society at large from the angle of sociology (i.e the conjecture of bearded dudes and angry dykes that can't see the forest for the trees) rather than neurobiology, evolutionary psychology etc is a good idea that will lead to rigorous theories that are well applicable in the real world is beyond me.

@deepbludreams
@deepbludreams 7 жыл бұрын
+High Caliber Drop it charging handle first onto cement, i'm pretty sure you will break it off, i'm not saying casting does not work, it's just a cheap way to build things, hence why military firearms tend to not have cast parts as it creates brittle parts, just look at Rob Ski's test on the RAS47, that gun is covered in cast parts, sight covers broke off, sling loop snapped, rear sight broke out of it's mounting, front retainer bent out and snapped......Casting does not make a good product, hence why when he tested an AK made to normal standards to the Russian letter, nothing broke. And when it comes to wearing out, i'm betting you that gun is not going to be in spec anymore, normal high end M1As and and real M14s need their head spacing checked around this point, and then barrel wear checked......i'd suggest getting a go and no-go gauge set.....last thing you want is your gun exploding and Norincos are not unknown for that happening.

The reason they put a bayonet lug is due to the way the chinese market takes a popular design and reverse engineers it. This means that they will put things on the copies not because they know what it does and why it is there but because it is there on the original and so it must serve some purpose regardless of if they know what actually does. This is something that occurs with nearly all Chinese copies of popular products.
@CjxJamie
@CjxJamie 5 жыл бұрын
No. You see unnecessary things on a product because it's faster and cheaper to produce that way. How? Because you don't need to change the mould. It's cheaper to mass produce the same parts for various models at one go, compared to making customized parts based on requirements of each model. Don't just assume that people are stupid. If you can figure something out, chances are others are smart enough to do the same.

ExF1Guy You can buy the beowulf “pistol” 10 rd pistol magazines. Same exact magazine as the M305, and will fit .308. Kind of a legal loophole, as magazine restrictions pertain not to the the magazine itself, but the gun it’s designed for, not the gun it’s being used in. So a beowulf 9mm 10rd magazine in a m305 loaded with ten .308 cartridges isn’t breaking any laws. But I’m sure it’s a hassle to get out of if you get caught and will probably get your firearms confiscated until you settle your case in court. Unless the cop is aware of the loophole himself, he will assume you’re breaking the law having a >5 rd magazine loaded into a centrefire rifle. YMMV @ IANAL.

you can just get a BCL 102 .. it's an AR 102 in .308 (6.5 and .260 coming soon) and is the only unrestricted AR currently for sale in Canada. BUT to actually answer your question, you MUST file with canada customs, the mags MUST be riveted to 5 rounds to enter the country, failing to do so will land you in jail... and everything destroyed. Canada has 3 classifications of firearms (and crossbows/airguns) to buy or posses, you need the corresponding licence, called a PAL (possession nd acquisition licence) or a RPAL (restricted PAL) UNRESTRICTED, these are manual action or semi-auto, full length rifles that aren't full auto and aren't based on the AK(varmint rifle exceptions) or AR10/AR15 (AR102 is allowed) can be used anywhere you can use a firearm .. on public crown lands, on private lands.. basically everywhere. air rifles that fire over 500fps fall into this category. RESTRICTED, These are Handguns & Pistols, AR10 & AR15, short barrel rifles, etc PROHIBITED, These are fullauto, sawed off shoguns... anything integrally designed to carry more than 5 rounds (10 rounds pistol/rimfire) ... and hidden wrist crossbows. for the exact info you need, here: www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/fs-fd/clas-eng.htm and for the full unrestricted/restricted/prohibited searchable firearms & device list: laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/SOR-98-462/page-2.html#h-4 to quickly search the list for firearms and exceptions, press F3 to search The BCL 102 via Shooting Edge Canada kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mreJmMaTkr7UXZ8.html

One of the most-common complaints about the original M14 select-fire rifle was that it was tough to control in fully-automatic mode. The 7.62x39 chambering would probably do away with most of those complaints, although not without cost. The M14's elevation wheel would no longer be accurate and would have to be recalibrated - but that's not a big deal. The overall maximum range of the weapon would also have to be revised downward, from perhaps 1,100 meters to 600-700 meters, the maximum supersonic range of the 7.62x39 Russian. Overall, though, an interesting concept worth exploring....
