The National Union of Public Service and Allied Workers has handed over a memorandum to the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro District Department of Health in Gqeberha, demanding the absorption of Community Health Workers on a permanent basis.
Many of them have been on contract since 1992. After over 30 years of service, they still have no job security, government benefits or salaries.
The union wants to see an end to government austerity policies
