Religion doesnt bring misery tot he world at least not judiasim. Living a fake empty life is what brings misery. People who fallow religion on average are more happier and have more fulfilling life . They have families and values. Ask most religious women they are happy . Take a secular women she isnt. Most are chasing there carriers and before they know it they are in there 40s no kids no husband and alone. Thats why the egg freezing business is blowing up. And that's why you have a 80% devorce rate vs the 5 to 10% that religious people have . The religion teaches younwhat life is really about and that not everything is about you . But secular people have no idea what they are living for and they live for themselves only . And thats why they cant have real relationships and needs drugs or pills to keep going .

Some of these communities are so closed off and isolated from society, they reject outsiders as much as possible, often to the point of violence against those who come to their communities immodestly and so on, except when it comes to getting money or joining the govt to get benefits for their communities and way of life.

Ben Shapiro should have a say in this; he said that Muslims cannot concede to western civilization; but what are his thoughts on this, they see the non-hasidic or secular world as insane. The Rabbi himself even said that “The less they know about the outside-world, the better.” As a muslim myself, I see some similarities. In our education, music and arts among other things were not allowed, men and women are separate and cannot talk to each other unless they are married or related to each other, and had the least exposure to the outside, but that’s changed now and since them I’ve learned a lot. I’ve followed what I’ve been told, that “When in Rome, do what the Romans do.” Hence, I practice my religion in private, and I just blend into the culture I reside in; but it makes me wonder how these hasidists remain the same and did not adopt to the environment like I did, I wasn’t in the Middle-East anymore, so I had to adopt; this community didn’t, yet those who do adopt are exiled... How come?
@omg-bh4pg
@omg-bh4pg 6 жыл бұрын
Ian Miles There are almost as many jewish groups as there are Christian denominations. Ben Shapiro is Modern Orthodox left of center. Even this doesn't fully describe his affiliation. Most of this clip is not true. Ultra orthodoxy also has a full spectrum of openness and acceptence. Alot depends on specific parents and what they want.
@chiyosake
@chiyosake 6 жыл бұрын
e m, Well, ok, Isaac Abraham may not be credible, but what about those who were exiled? Chaim and Bina, they've stated that they were not allowed to wear any different clothing, study other subject, and they were banished, though they would still visit their families, but the community would not talk to them anymore, what about them? Surely they could be credible in how they say the Hasidic community is or acts?

Two things: There will never be more than several thousand of them, and they will not ever try to overrun American culture. They are a harmless sect of Judaism and their mission is not to conquer America like the Muslims. Yes, there is the Messiah, Christianity has the same idea as well so don't go there. There are so many different Hassidic sects. Each one is different from the other in so many ways. It is hard to pigeon hole every Hassidic group to having the same strengths or deficits of another community. What goes on in Williamsburg does not go on in Borough Park or Crown Heights. What happens in Mea She'arim in Israel as part of every day life is not what happens in Tel Tzion, Beit Shemesh, or B'nai Brak. The negative aspects about Satmar may not even be problems in Chabad, Bobov, Vizhnitz, or Breslov. Be careful to paint the Hassidic world with one brush. That is the problem with this video.

Watching this is painful. I grew up in Williamsburg as a hasidic girl & left the community after I realized this way of life didn't meet the needs of my kids. There is so much misconception & hatred against a group of people who have the lowest crime rates, amazing family values, & charity organizations. Most shows about them is rampant with antisemitism & generalizations. Many who leave come from toxic dysfunctional families, their family failed them & not because the community failed them. Part of their core values is to protect themselves from the "outside world" & remain insulated, rightfully so after 2000 years of torment & prosecution which continues to reflect in videos like this which makes the community appear as if they're failing their members when in fact most of them are good people trying to raise their family in the best way they know how. The continued slander of the community reinforces their belief of how the secular world feels about them. As long as they're not hurting others please stop spreading biased one sided information which paints an entire community in an unfairly negative light.

omega portal I agree that we're discouraged from reporting to authorities & domestic abuse and sexual abuse is a crime which should be reported however these crimes are commited in the secular world as well & across the board both crimes go underreported not because they don't "snitch" but because victims refuse to report & charges can't be pressed on an abuser if the abused don't want to testify. The community has created many organizations to assist victims of domestic violence including hotlines, Shalom Task Force, & Sister to Sister who provides countless services to women & children of domestic violence. I urge you to educate yourself on the strengths of the community before bashing it. It appears who know about the shortcomings however can you name a few of their strong points? What is the end game of your bashing? Do you have constructive criticism which can help the community improve and become better? I'm all ears as I am active in educating the community members in growth & development. Your feedback is appreciated.
@sarac521

Waterybint * I agree that this is a form of a cult and the children do get brainwashed into this lifestyle however its not true that they are the highest recipients of welfare. Many of them are productive members in society and build up big businesses, get educated, & embark on successful careers, also the women aren't oppressed, they WANT to have children, raise large families & shave their head as learned the virtue of it. All religions brainwash their young to some degree & can be labeled a cult. The children are indoctrinated to believe there's an imaginary man in the sky & millions of christians are tought about Santa Claus & naughty list & Jesus & the Jews have done wrong & millions of Muslims are tought murdering infidels & martyrdom is a virtue so if you want to call the hasidic community a cult they're just like all the other religions brainwashed to lead a certain lifestyle. This community certainly needs to enhance their educational system however there a lot of great things about the commumity & most livimg there are very happy & thriving. So your bashing isn't at all transparent constructive criticism. It reeks of antisemitism.

+Sara Cohen It's not antisemitic to point out the very real harm that is done by insular cults such as chassidism. Granted, I agree with you that there are many nice families who do not INTEND to harm their children. But being super-ignorant often results in them harming their children unknowingly, such as keeping them from even speaking english or getting a normal education. I'm an ex-Jew, and I've spent LOTS of time among Jews. The "core values" of Williamsburg have more to do with fear, superstition, and ignorance than it does being positive, productive members of society.

I live in the chasidic community and this is not everyone's experience. It doesn't have to be like this. Yes, this is a lot of Satmar Williamsburg but there are other chasidic possibilities. I guess i had the opposite trajectory. I also went to the University of Pennsylvania and other ivy league style schools. I grew up learning calculus and knowing most of these cultural references. It didn't really add so much to my existence. I now choose to live in the chasidic community. I am super happy and am shocked at how well ive been embraced. Im raising my kids in this community and they are fully aware of other ethnicities and possibilities and that I am not trying to shield them from diversity but am trying to reinforce the belief system that i believe in. This guy on the video "advocate for the chasidic community". Seriously. Who is that? You can't just put a crazy sounding guy on a soap box and label him "chasidic jewry". How about getting a chasidic speaker on chinuch? A Rabbi Weinberger or such? Someone to make the argument level between the pros and cons of a community that self isolates. Just make the discussion a little more interesting with real facts and actual rationale behind some of our practices. Its insulting that you expect me to believe this guy is representing American Chasidic Jewry. I usually like FOX exposes. This one was disappointing at best.

So off he went to the leader of the tribe that was in middle of fishing, and the governor explained the tribal leader how great it would be, that they will get educated, so the leader asks: "and than what?" So the governor continues: "they will get good jobs", "and?" Asks the leader, so the governor continues to explain: "they will be able to retire at the age of 65", "and, what will we do then?" Asks the leader, "they will sit comfortable on a beach with no worries and fish". "This is exactly what we are doing!" answers the leader.

This is classic clickbait reporting that is becoming the new normal for mainstream media on both sides of the political spectrum. Mainstream media is losing their audience to more intelligent podcasts. This type of clickbait reporting reinforces generalizations of groups and isn't helpful at informing the public at all. It's very easy to pull quotes out of context and create the story you want. Fortunately most people are smart enough to see through this type of superficial reporting and have started listening to podcasts.

true but happiness is not dictated by a community that forces marriage and multiple births while dad wears curls and studies a few texts every day

Florida Truther - Not one-sided. Isaac Abraham advocated for the Hasidic community. He made his points concerning "secular reason".

Susan Diane Howell Exactly. This isn't a biased or even a new story at all. Fox is merely doing a status update on a story I heard a few years ago. This is truly happening and apparently has gotten worse since I last saw the story. I live in NY so this is a thing. I first saw this reported on PBS. Even the leader in this video has been a staunch advocate for non-assimilation in every way. Really odd how people are saying it's one-sided.

My point is this documentary paints a bad light on Orthodox Judaism. It does nothing to show any of the positive aspects of it. Just because certain behaviors are prevalent in today’s society doesn’t make them right. So what may seem old fashion or restrictive perhaps is a more meaningful life.

to all young people that have a religous community. You have ONE life, do you wanna waste it, and live it based on community, tradition, religon, culture, caste, tribe, sect ....etc..

Its a pitty a Jewish person leaves their community and leaves their family that teaches good things and the truth to follow and become part of the outside world that is so crazy, confused, manipulative with compulsive liars and arrogant unbelievers. That is having interest and love for the useless things on the planet.
