John Thomas Was that why he was fired? I assumed it was because the show was never doing great in ratings and the studio didn’t like working with him. That makes sense to me, I don’t think they’d put a profitable show on the line for one writer and since he is a crazy creep I could see him having a pattern of bad relationships romantic adjacent and otherwise. Regardless, if the writers had been kept happy and the budget flowing the show could have been something else though. It’s shitty to think about that could have been

@John Thomas I think Harmon brought a dark humor to the show, but it was balanced out by the Russo brothers. When they left, the show lost its charm only for it to return for season 5.

@John Thomas Luckily not all shows are like that. Breaking Bad managed to become quite popular in its later seasons and The Sopranos was a continuing success despite the fact that each season made fewer and fewer concessions to the public.

I agree on wishing the secret service lady had stayed. I liked rachel from seasons 4 and 5 but.... the secret service lady was funnier and more interesting. even if they had remained as friends only, it would have been awesome to keep her as occasional deus ex machina running gag. occasionally helping the gang (especially in stuff about abed) and the gang wondering "Who the hell is she?"

i remember when i was in college, i was walking from the library to the student parking after a day of classes when i noticed a few tall serious-looking men in black suits, sunglasses, & earpieces with impeccable posture. my first thought was “is that the secret service ?????” turns out it WAS. i had completely forgotten that the presidential debates were taking place at my university that week. i think about that every time i watch this scene of community 🤣

OMG GUYS. I JUST REALIZED. Abed is the only one in the show that tested as not a psychopath. Abed also notices stuff that the group thinks isn’t real( like the surveillance ). So theory, Abed acts like he’s in a TV show because he IS in a TV show. He’s not crazy! Everyone else is!

The most common usage of the word "notch" is probably "That person has so many notches on their belt......" A notch is just a marking used to tally or count something.
