Seriously? They could have gone with a inspiring story about german and italian soldiers bonding in the war. But instead they go with this. For the "Axis" campaign. I expected a Panzerelite style of campaign but no.

Yes but they had to make it fit “current year” narrative, and the perpetual demonisation of Axis soldiers is of course necessary.. 😏

I understand that the devs are trying to put the war in the civilian pov as how cruel the armies can be on those lands. But they forgot one big thing, and that is it's IRRELEVANT to the core game. This is not adventure FPS game, it's RTS and you played as afrikakorps in there. What were they thinking? Is this the product of modern culture?

These cutscenes are just totally irrelevant to the point of view you're playing in the actual campaign - these would have been better suited for an Allied North African campaign. If the devs/writers felt that they wanted something neutral and didn't want to humanise any of the Axis side (which is stupid... no I'm not a Wehrboo or whatever they're called, I just don't think all who fought on that side of the war were as bad as their leaders and deserve a chance to have their story told), they could have at least provided a documentary-style narrator talking about the strategic situation before each mission.

True they practically did it before with Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts. These cutscenes would make more sense if i was playing the allied or a partisan campaign.

It's not terrible, but it could have been a lot better. It's just that it's confusing that the narrative of the war is told from the other side while you were playing as the Africa core. It would have been better if you were playing at the side that was Victorious that day - for example, you play as the fascists for the first battle of El Alamein & the Allies for the second. It's just weird how you spent the last levels winning & then suddenly the defeat of the Africa Corps get summarized in the last cutscene. It's not all bad. It does accomplish what it set out to do. Honoring the Jews of Benghazi. But I would have enjoyed being on the side of the main character more because despite talking all the time, Rommel doesn't feel like he's there for me. 3/5. Good if money isn't a concern.

Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway had this, but it's a tactical shooter. It's about Operation Market Garden, but I didn't know what it is(I don't live in America, so we don't study this in schools). By the end I was like "What the fuck do you mean we lost? We have won every battle we got into!"
