do not buy a feedback destroyer. Instead buy a good microphone. Cheapest good one is a Shure sm58. With a good microphone you kill 85% of the feedback problems. The rest you do by manually equalizing. So yes an equalizer is a good adding. Still the better your micropone, amplifier and speaker, the less you will have feedback to begin with. It has all to do with distortion vs clean signals.

computerjantje it may be the case however I have tested this unit on a pair of Yamaha dsr112s and Shure beta58 ( I would categorise this pairing as good speakers and mic) and it works exceptionally well in gaining more headroom without feedback -:)

Can you make a video with your good microphone to prove that is no feedback like him so we can see. I have the microphone shure sm58 i still have alots of feedback. Thankyou

However I demonstrate the feedback on this video * kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbyigaqi19mxfJs.html in which you can see how close I have to take the sm58 to get feedback and there is no equalizing or any other signal handling in between. In addition these are not even that expensive speakers/amplifiers. But I assure you that with a cheap microphone you cannot get this close. The reason why a good microphone in combination with a good amplifier and speaker give less (chance at) feedback is because only the meant frequencies go in and through the system. The more expensive the equipment the less noise and false extra frequencies get mixed into the signal. Of course you can get feedback going on every system if you bring the microphone close enough and turn the volume of the amplifier high enough. My point is that with the money spend on this destroyer you can buy a little better microphone and the outcome will be the same possible volume vs distance and a way better sounding sound. ( * my video is in Dutch as it is meant for schoolteachers to explain a little bit about connecting their set without having to use a mixer) p.s. Not only the microphone has to be good. sm58 is a good general purpose live microphone. Also your amplifier and speakers have to be good. With good I mean: not adding frequencies to the input frequencies.

@@chrismunyao9951 A lapel microphone is not meant for PA (amplifying in the same room) unless the space is really big. On television recordings lapels are used even when there is an audience sitting and watching. From a technical point of view this is a conflict situation. You need a nice picture for television and you need good direct sound. The PA for the audience is usually a lot of little speakers pointed at different sections of the audience and the volume is always set rather low. This is the only situation in which lapel in combination with PA is used. In reality a lapel microphone is meant for recording, so not for PA. A lapel is simply too far away from the sound source and so it has to pick up sound from rather far away. And because the mouth is always changing its position to the lapel (turning your head or looking up or down) The lapel cannot be very directional. This means that the distance from source to microphone compared to the unwanted source (the speaker) comes too close to each-other. If you want PA amplifying in the same room, then you use a headset microphone or handheld microphone. These both are meant to be close to the source(mouth) and therefor can de be set way less sensitive. Also because headset or handheld are usually rather fixed and directed to the mouth, they can be directional microphones. Best headset microphone to my opinion would be the DPA 4188 0r 4288 but these are not cheap. I am sure any cheap headset microphone from a real brand will do fine as well as the most important thing is it being close to the mouth. actually I recently used an Aliexpress headset in combination with a shure slx wireless system because it was a small children musical and I did not want to risk they accidentally taring my dpa mics. It worked fine without much EQ.
