U.S. C-RAM Compilation - Counter-Rocket Artillery Mortar System (C-RAM) System in Action - Shooting Down Fighter Jets - Phalanx CIWS - ArmA 3
The C-RAM (Counter-Rocket Artillery Mortar) system and CIWS (Close In Weapon System) use a 20mm gatling cannon to destroy incoming targets. With the wide array of sensors and computers, these turrets can pinpoint the location of where incoming enemy fire is coming from.

I love to make these simulation videos for you and I am happy that you all like them a lot! The graphics of Arma are very good, it almost looks like in real life. Rather simulations than real war!
I definitely don't want to give the impression that I glorify war, I am just a enthusiastic gamer.
The weapon systems are of course used differently in real life, but I am happy to educate you about these weapons systems, many do not even know that they exist.

I served aboard an aircraft carrier with three 20MM CIWS on board. I'm curious. This reproduction with tracers is for us, the viewer, NOT the radar-guided CIWS. The tracer round is used for aiming purposes, for a human. CWIS is TRACKING the threat, by RADAR, making tracer aiming obsolete; at best, redundant. In real life, NO tracers would be loaded into a CIWS, especially since shipboard CIWS can only fire for 8 minutes, before requiring a reload. That was back in 1986. I'm sure my stats are probably obsolete by now, too.

I tell you what , you have definitely got your shit together on making these videos . I realize the seawiz is a close in defense weapon on naval ships but dad gum , that shit looks realistic to me . Being a motor transport / rifle man in the Marine Corps 74-78 with knowledge of a few weapons , you guys should be doing effects for big movies . You guys could definitely pull it off as the real thing , just my humble opinion . Great work indeed .

You do have human intervention. Although, the CIWS has its own guidance system to track & aim at the threat(s), a fire control tech and/or officer has to select which targets on his screen are threats, and which are not. Basically, a human is "looking over it's shoulder", before it locks on & shoots at the threat(s). Also, bear in mind, it's a 20mm multi barrel cannon, with limited range, about 2,000 yards, hence, the term CLOSE IN Weapons System. This system is supplemental with BPMDS (Basic Point Missile Defense Systems), in laymen's terms, SAMs. Many upgrades have been made to this system, since 1986, too.

The only thing inaccurate about this is that the C-RAM cannons can only fire for about 3-4 seconds at a time or they get too hot and lose structural integrity.
