The GAU-8 is an seven barrel Gatling gun in 30 mm caliber.
The Centurion C-RAM/Phalanx CIWS (Counter-Rocket Artillery Mortar) system and CIWS (Close In Weapon System) use a 20mm gatling gun/cannon to destroy incoming targets.
If the C RAM is firing at night there are amazing red tracers.

The weapon systems are of course used differently in real life, but I am happy to educate you about these weapons systems, many do not even know that they exist.

For those who wonder why the plane does not just kill it with missiles, the c-ram is an automated anti-missile system, so it would be a waste of time to shoot it since the missiles would be easily intercepted

It’s not designed to shoot down aircraft. It’s designed to shoot down incoming projectiles. They are primarily a naval defense system, but were also deployed to bases in Afghanistan where it is said they successfully and consistently shot incoming mortar rounds out of the sky. Missile systems are used for shooting down manned aircraft.

CIWS and C RAM fire where the jet is predicted to go based on calculations derived from radar readings to determine the speed and position of the aircraft. This reading is quite accurate against flying objects that are not manually guided. Once a bullet has been fired from the CWIS/C RAM a pilot or controller has a brief window of time to change their path so that they don't go where the computer predicted them to be. The evasion isn't as easy as it looks from the ground either.

But the pilots are all dumb. Did you see that high-negative-G-pushover? Absurd. The pilots in these vids often fire from low angles which is just a waste of the altitude advantage, and should be using missiles.

А самолёт упал из за сигареты, которую пилот закурил - у него огонёк упал на шелковые штаны и они вспыхнули вместе с малиновым спинжаком и шарахнула сигнальная ракетница или сигналка или зажигалка китайская на панели взорвалась. Shows that velocity is far more important than number of rounds fired. Had the Phalanx fired rounds at 2.5 kilometers per second, the aircraft could not have evaded a single burst.

They have a fuse in them and basically explode after a set distance.

Depends on the munition, as well. The tracers designed for C-RAM self-emolate by burning up before they reach the ground. C-RAM is explicitly for terrain defense, CWIS is for Naval defense. CWIS uses depleted uranium rounds, which don’t burn up or explode.

It was a great combat in fact, that is a war plane, and it is not going to be put within range, the missile fight is not viable against c ram who can intercept them easily, the amount of bullets is due to the great distance between them , and believe it or not that combat was very economical using only 22mm bullets
