I just recently started wearing hearing aids. I had sudden hearing loss in my right ear last winter. (Moderate loss) Hearing test and an MRI later, I appear to have an idiopathic loss. As I only have a minor hearing loss in my left ear, I decided to go with an OTC hearing aid as a first step. I found an "open-box" Sennheiser "all day clear" unit for $299 with a $25 1 year warranty on eBay. I expect that I'll eventually go with a fancier model, whether Costco or Prescription still to be determined. So far, I am pleased with my OTC purchase. Thank you for the great videos.

I have been wearing Bernafon Zerena 9 miniRITE, which I purchased from Costco 5(!) years ago. Figuring it was time for an upgrade, I went back to Costco, retested (mild hearing loss) and chose the Philips 9040 MNR T after a brief walkabout through Costco trying the Jabra Enhance Pro 20s. I found the Philips provided a hearing experience more like the Bernafons (really no surprise there, given they are of the same family) and a sound profile which I preferred to the Jabras. I'm looking forward to the upgrade in technology and features provided by the Philips 9040s. I guess I fall in your 15% category. I chose battery over rechargeable for a couple of reasons; but most importantly, I generally take a couple of long trips a year, sometimes with really long travel days, and have always found it convenient to just have extra batteries with me and replace them as needed. The thought of having another large piece of technology (the Philips charger is pretty large!) to carry with all my other gizmos (camera battery chargers, computer power accessories, power adapters, etc.) just makes me afraid that (1) I'm adding bulk to my toiletry or equipment bag or (2) I'm going to leave it behind somewhere. The argument about batteries running out in the middle of the day I would think could also apply to rechargeables. With the batteries I only have to wait 2 minutes for them to adapt to the air vs. waiting at least 30 minutes for a quick charge, assuming I'm somewhere near my charger. That's my 2 cents. 😄

FIRST TIME buyer. Costco's is offering my friend the Phillips Hearlink 9030 ITE today. So it's NOT true that Costco doesn't offer it as you stated in the video.

I have recently, Dec 2023, bought the Philips 9030 miniRITE T from Costco and am going through their 6-month trial. I’m surprised that Costco didn’t give me the 9040. I’m a long time hearing aid user with my last hearing aids being the Oticon Opn. I went through Costco this time because I can’t afford the audiologists’ prices.

Go back within your trial period and Costco will refund your money and on the same visit you can purchase the 9040s. It's equivalent to an exchange. They just don't call it that.

I will be getting hearing aids for the first time. I have not yet been tested at Costco but will be doing so in the near future. My primary concern is the ability to listen to high fidelity music sources.

Honestly, I don't give a hoot about streaming, which in my opinion requires a dome type that gives maximum occlusion which I don't at all care for. I use over the ear headphones which provide me with the best quality of sound. With that said, I'm going to Costco soon to get fitted with the latest 9040s. My priorities are understanding speech and speech in noise, with a separate program for live music and music with over the ear headphones. I'm coming from previous Bernafon juna 9 ric. Speech in noise was nothing to write home about, but with lots of tuning, those separate music programs worked out for me. I remain optimistically skeptical in the meantime and will report back about my experiences.

Well, as it turned out, the Costco HAS recommended the Jabra Enhanced Pro 20. Because of the long trial periods allowed, I figured I'll start with them. So far, I am amazed at how well these are working out. Speech in noise really appears to work well. The experience in a restaurant had sort of a 3D effect: voices to the side and back were subdued, the music suspended above, and when my partner spoke across from me, the front focus was dominant! These aides seem to adjust to music very well on their own. Can't sense much compression. I'm a musician and very fussy. I've only had them for a week and am not making too many adjustments in the app to allow my brain to acclimate. Even though these may turn out great for me, I'll have to figure a way to give the 4020s a chance as well.

Again, these don't match the current Costco offerings, as of 1/19/24. There are only 2 9040 and 1 9030 listed in the Costco brochure. And none match the names in this video. Needs an update or just disregard this video.

And today Costco in Auburn Hills, MI offered my friend the Phillips Hearlink 9030 ITE which is one he indicated Costco doesn't offer.
