Have and love the Derwent set. They work beautifully over watercolor--you can't tell they're there because of the matte finish.

Gosh what a beautiful pencil set from Derwent. That comparison of the leads in the Derwent pencils versus the Faber pencils was an eye opener for me. I have 4 sets of Derwent pencils (and I love them) but not the one you are using, it’s gorgeous! Lovely colour quality, thank you so much for posting this!

I have Mondeluz of Koh i Noor, Derwent Drawing, Derwent Coloursoft and some Polychromos and two boxes of pastel pencils (Carbotello and Pitt). My favorites at the moment are Derwent Drawing. I really like drawing animals and with Derwent Drawing there are very beautiful drawings. They do not have an extensive color chart, but they are sufficient for me. I love how you can draw hair with these pencils. They are lovely. Polychromos are fantastic and I use them to draw coloring books or even other personal drawings. I handle the Drawing as if it were a brush. I paint very fast with them. It must be that I paint with watercolor and for me they are pencils that allow me to make quick strokes, like a watercolor brush would. Instead the Polychromes, I use them as what they are, some pencils. And they are slower to use. I am planning to buy the complete range of Faber Castell because the truth is that they are very very good. But with the Drawing something special happens to me. I'm in love with them. Good comparison!! Thank you. I'm using a translator, sorry my English.

I have this set, and they are my favorite. They are so creamy, and I love the muted colors. Derwent’s pencils overall, are generally well made and they have unique colors. Your video did a very good job of showcasing some of their best properties.

What a great comparison Alyona. I love my polychromos pencil crayons but they can be hard to use on the hands. I have added the Derwent pencils to my wish list as these would certainly be a great addition for my art supplies. The blending and shading look lovely. thank you Alyona. :)

Thank you! I love the muted color palette of the Derwent Drawing. I wish they were available as watercolor pencils as well. I actually acquired a full, brand new set of the Derwent Drawing at an estate sale for $4 several years ago. I haven’t done much with them, but you’ve inspired me to get them out and play!

Actually, Derwent Graphitint pencils are very similar in concept.

There are better matches for the Terra cotta in PC such as Indian Red

I love the uni POSCA Coloured Pencils. They can be moved by odorless thinner on the paper.

Thank you. I always learn so much from these demos. I really like Derwent pencils. I began with the Derwent Studio which I still use. I also just purchased a set of Derwent Procolours. They also lay down very light. How do they compare to the Derwent Drawing (I only have the Chinese white in this set)?

Yes there is a set, but be aware the colours are repeated! So I think you get 2-3 of the same pencil depending on the colour! 😊

I bought Derwent drawing set but I'm disappointed: it completely lacks some colour that are not obtainable with that set. It seems they meant this set to be a way for remapping real colours in muted and warmer version. no way to get a leaf/pea green, a cold yellow, a deep red, a saturated dark pure blue - the ink blue tends to green. Having all the images with colours remapped bring to stereotyped production. I don't find reasonable either to mix them with other different kind of pencils for integrating what's missing. They definitely must add 4 key colours

Why compare a wax pencil to an oil pencil. Would a like to like comparison make more sense.

Polychromos are oil-based. I believe... Are the Derwent oil-based or wax-based? I use Polychromos for detail & Caran D'ache for opacity. (Layer after layer after layer & then, burnish.) 🎨💜

Barbra Loveless I'm pretty sure they are almost completely wax based I have the white pencil and it feels like a wax based pencil
