Many f1 drivers are smaller in stature than people may think. The great Michael Schumacher was 5’9”, which is avg. Bigger drivers = more weight and weight reduction is important. Doesn’t mean larger drivers will always be disadvantaged but overall stature plays a factor.

The weight limit for a driver is 80 kg meaning if you weigh less than that (which most drivers do) weight is added to the car to meet that limit which is why you see the drivers get weighted after every session/race

doesnt matter if they short and lean they get ballast added bc of weight regulations, cockpits and seats are personalised specificly for the driver like Russel wont fit in Yukis car even if his life depends on it. 2 Years ago Russel had to drive Hamiltons car and he had to cut off the edges of his shoes to fit somehow comfortably and his head was stucking out much too high.

Tbh being a tall f1 driver doesn't seem so bad the painful part is when a tall driver has to substitute for a short driver.. Hulk subbing for Vettel Russell for Hamilton Peterson for Scheckter are some notable examples
