I have a test when I go back after half term! I was told to have a look at your channel and I must say you have helped me and others out so much. I'm able to write a better answer and I now know how to link things together. I'm much more confident with writing now and i certanly know what to write about. Keep up good work! ☺ Thanks x

+Zack Thomas I would say select 4-5 quotations you know you can analyse in depth e.g. Repetition of "charter'd" implies that not only are the people controlled by the government and other institutions but even geographically the city is confined and restrained. Metaphor "mind-forg'd manacles" symbolises that thought and peoples' thoughts are constrained and restricted. The use of the hyphen in "mind-forg'd" further serves to emphasise this and "forg'd" has connotations of something created, something perhaps false. Metaphor "every blackning church appals" is literal as the chimney sweep ends up black but symbolically the adjective black is linked to death. Blake didn't believe in religious institutions and blames the church here for the job and child labour within the city. Metaphor "blights with plague the marriage hearse" - here marriage is ruined by disease and by the "harlot" - prostitution is ruining marriage and this is another institution Blake undermines. Plague also links back to the colour black mentioned earlier and we are reminded historically of the Black Plague/Black Death. This is some of the main ones - does this help?
