Tip: remove one joy con first before removing the skullnco grip and that will eliminate any friction. Same goes for when putting it on (put it on with one joy con attached first).

@@orbalology I have the Skull & Co Neogrip because Satisfye isn't available/sold anywhere in my country but I've been really interested in Satisfye grips because my skull & co neogrip has shown wear 1-2 weeks right after purchase. I often take my grip off because I'm not comfortable docking my switch with the grip because it's still too tight. I have the white oled neogrip that comes with the max carry case. The wear I'm talking about is the rubber tabs on the side where it sticks with the joycons. The tabs come off too easily so the adhesive sticks to the side of my joycons. It's pretty annoying considering how sticky and hard to remove it can get on my white joycons.

Great video. I don't use grips on my Switch, personally. I find them unnecessary. I have large yet slender hands, and I don't mind holding the Switch in handheld mode for long periods of time w/o an additional grip accessory. I remember I tried Satisfye's original Switch grip years ago, and it was fine, but the difference didn't matter to me, not to mention the inconvenience of having to remove it to dock the console. I'm sure newer models are significant improvements, but I don't feel the need to purchase any of them. That's just my take. Again, great video, you're very pleasant to watch. Can't wait to see more.

Thanks for your review! I’ve had the Satisfye for a while, but I think you’ve convinced me to give the Skull and Co a try. I love the satisfye when I’m traveling because I’m always handheld, but it’s a bit of a pain at home because I swap between handheld and TV a lot

If you give Skull & Co a try I would be interested to hear how it goes! I found the Satisfye grip on my lite a bit bulky to travel with, but I really should start looking into the custom cases that accommodate grips so I don't have to leave my grip at home the next time 😂
@justinu1182
@justinu1182 Жыл бұрын
@@orbalology bulk is definitely an issue 😂 though I got one of the bundle packs with the case. The case is huge relative to a normal switch sleeve, but it’s nice that it holds the switch/grip along with my travel dock and power supply. The only things that give me pause about the skullco one is that I’ve gotten super comfortable with the satisfye asymmetric grip, and the chonky one piece construction has gotten me used to walking around with it just held in one hand

I used the OIVO with my previous switch, and it was quite comfortable. As I sold that system with the grip and case I had, I decided to purchase (thanks to your heads-up Tweet) the Skull & Co TotK grip for my recently acquired OLED device (the white regular model). I'm very pleased with it; the dockable option is fantastic; the customization is a plus; and the larger grips are the perfect fit for my pianist's long fingers. One possible drawback I've realized is one of aesthetic convenience, aside from the TotK CE and white Joy-Cons, the grip doesn't match well with many other Joy-Con colors.

I really want the Pynkalicious Satisfye grip but it's always sold out everywhere. With the price and shipping, it's not as practical to import it where I'm from. I really wish skull & co would make a pastel pink neogrip. Maybe like a pastel line or plain baby pink and a neogrip that's mix of baby pink and baby blue. They should also make max carry cases sold separately because they don't even include them in themed grips (splatoon, pokemon, totk neogrips)

That's too bad there isn't an alternative option to get ahold of the satisfye grip in your country. I felt that it was somewhat overprice here in the US even with their frequent discounts but I can't imagine how much it'll end up after importing. I think aesthetically the SkullnCo looks better but the Satisfye just seems a lot more solid of a design. Those SkullnCo grips almost looked like they were crumbling in your hand. Funny enough I don't even use a grip on my Switch. I tend to alternate between docked and undocked play pretty frequently and normally don't game longer than a couple of hours at a time so never really had an issue with hand cramping. But great options for those that need one.
@orbalology
@orbalology Жыл бұрын
I like how Satisfye is one solid piece, but I think it does cater to a particular hand size demographic. So I like the different sizing options Skull & Co offer. They may be a bit on the cheaper side as I showed with how they get misaligned but it thankfully hasn't happened too frequently for me (and they're fairly easy to replace). But if you don't need a grip to prevent hand cramping that's great too!
@Oatmeal_Ghost
@Oatmeal_Ghost Жыл бұрын
I have both as well, but I find the Satisfye much more comfortable. The offset style of the grip (right side is bigger and angled slightly different) places my thumbs more naturally on the joy cons. I really liked having access to the kickstand and the ability to dock with the skull & co, but the comfort difference is just too large for me. My skull & co is back in the box and put away. I have medium man hands, for what it’s worth.

With the Satisfye, I've had the regular one for over a year now. I just got the TOTK switch and now the Satisfye grip as well. I did notice on my last oled switch that you can get a tiny smudge streak where those rubber dots are on the back. What I've been doing on the TOTK so that doesn't happen, is put the switch and 1 joycon in place, and then slide in the other joycon. As long as you are careful and hold the switch and grip securely, like putting it on a table for example, there has been no problem so far and I take my switch in and out of the grip almost daily and no notice of that smudge streak or any wear and tear from the grip. Love your videos btw.

I bought the NeoGrip by Skull and Co. when the OLED released (for my launch OLED). I like it well enough and it serves its purpose, but there are a few things I don't like about it: 1. It feels cheap - the materials are a cheaper, more 'brittle' feeling plastic in my opinion. It just feels like if it drops and hits at just the right angle, well, you'll be buying a new one soon. 2. I don't have the biggest hands in the world, but even the largest attachments feel too small for me honestly. And 3. It drives me nuts that the right attachments are not offset. It causes more hand cramping than I can ever imagine, and this is a huge oversite in any grip in my opinion. With all that being said, I don't have the Satisfye grip and have been thinking about getting it because of all my above gripes. However, seeing this video and a more close up view of that gap for both the OLED and standard Switches... Yeah, no, I can't do that - it will drive me crazy. So I guess I'll just keep it docked or in table top mode and use my pro controller instead. I'll continue to use it in the NeoGrip if I travel or for maybe short gaming bursts I guess. Also, the NeoGrip may state that it is "dockable" with it on, but it is not. When you dock it, watch how it actually bends out the thinner side piece of your dock. THAT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN. So I would stay away from keeping that thing attached and docking/undocking over and over again. Just my two sense. And finally, I absolutely love you Orbalogy!! I would marry you in a heartbeat if I could! 💗💗💗
@BespokeSlipp

Both of those Zelda grips are really nice, but I would choose the Skull & Co grip because I could hide things in the hollowed grips (like loose game carts or a small micro fiber cloth for smudges). The Satisfye grip might as well come with a screen protector for that price because having your Switch upright when not in use... you're just asking for trouble. I personally don't use screen protectors (because I'm an adult) but I would if a brand released one with crosshairs in the middle the glass to make firing from the hip easier in shooting games. From a different perspective, maybe Satisfye assumed most people who bought a Switch OLED already owned a standard Switch, similarly to Nintendo not including a charger with the New 3DS. The standard Switch would now live in the OLED Dock, the Standard Dock would become the travel dock, and the OLED would become the new primary handheld. The next dile-emma would be: do you allow guests to use your fragile Switch Lite, or do you give it an early retirement like the now antique 3DS? (can't be lending out bro's Switch, hahaha).

That being said, the Satisfye grip is pretty tight and often my right joycon will decouple from the Switch while trying to install it. Also, The gold color matching isn't nearly as close as Satisfye advertised, which is a huge let down. I do love the design of the Skull n Co Neogrip but both the medium and large grips still make my hands cramp up / cause pain during long handheld sessions. I had a feeling I would end up buying both of these. I'd like to see Satisfye engineer a dockable version of their grip as it's seondary features are lacking.

I just got OLED and since i previously had satisfye for my lite, i decided to give skull & co and to be honest i'm not a fan. I definitely be ordering the satisfye grip and will likely return the skull & co one. The satisfye is definitely more expensive (which is why i decided to try the skull & co this time) but imo worth the added cost.

The thing I don't like about the Satisfye grip is the rubber nubbins on the back create vertical streaks on the back of console. It's not super noticeable, but is permanent AFAIK. I've had both the OG and Lite versions and both do it. Also, check out the Genki Force Field for the Lite if you haven't already, I like it a lot. (not the full size version, it is poop)

I haven't tried the split pad pro but tempted to try out the upcoming TotK themed one releasing in a couple of months. I know it doesn't have the HD rumble but that may or may not be a plus to some.

I bought the Satisfye grip since I already had a purple Skull and Co grip. I prefer the feel of the Skull and Co. I was going to say when you take out the Switch from the Skull and Co you need to remove a joycon first.

I’ve had both the satisfye and skull & co neogrip, and the skull & co grip won for me by a mile. The angle on the right side of the satisfye grip just didn’t work for me. I also move back and forth between docked and handheld quite a bit, so the ability to just slide my switch into the dock with the case on was a huge plus. The accessories skulI & co are great as well. I really like the joycon charging grip for when I’m traveling, so I don’t have to bring a handheld controller with me when I’m using it in docked or tabletop mode.

Satisfye is the way to go for me, for sure. I like playing docked, but I also love sturdiness of handheld feeling while using grip. Skull&Co can and will damage your JoyCons, but not by itself. Small dust that gets in between plastic will do that overtime. Same happens with Smartphones when used for years in cases with tight fit. If you want your system to look like new 3 years in the future, you should consider my advice. On the other hand, you can just buy new JoyCons/Switch just aswell. I won't tell you what to do ^

i just want to say i have the grip and i dont think she specifically pointed it out but there are bumpers on it. the only place the plastic really contacts your switch is right at the bottom of the joy cons. there are bumpers on both sides of the joycons and the back. im sure that was a redesign feature because it heard it definitely scratched switches before but it doesnt seem to now. but thats my experience.

there are exceptions, though. for example, for a handful of games i play somewhat competitively, i'll swap out the larger nyxi joycons. not for comfort but function, and make use of the mapable back buttons and more travel on the sticks.

I love my switch oled but in handheld it is the most uncomfortable thing to use and I can’t play it at all. I might need to get a hori split pad compact as I don’t fancy adding wear and tear to the console using on of these grips.

@@orbalology Thanks, Emily. If you get a chance to try it out... please update! I have a hard time thinking it will be as good as a regular d-pad, but as someone who almost ALWAYS (depending on the game, of course) chooses to use the directional buttons on the left JoyCon instead of the analog stick, I'd love a relatively cheap and effective solution.
