Comparing White Toner Printing to Direct to Film DTF
In this video we are comparing DTF, also known as direct-to-film, to white toner printing with the DigitalHeat FX System.
First we are going to go through the things these printers have in commons.
First, they both print on a clear film that makes it really easy to line up on a t-shirt.
Both of these transfers can be printed and cut up or stored and sold to some else later. So both these printers create transfers that are transferable.
Also, ColDesi's DTF Printer and DigitalHeat FX System both print white.
The transfers also adhere to a variety of textiles including cottons, polyesters, blends and tons of other materials. Because they print white ink, they also can be put on both light and dark colored garments which is a huge plus compared to other t-shirt printing methods like sublimation.

White toner printers also have 5 color versions, so no need to flip the white for a black because they both exist there.

are these ok to print adhesive labels on sheets or rolls if they have roll capability? gloss, matte, clear, vinyl, bopp type substrates? i would need the white bottom esp on clear labels for colors to pop

Looking for a waterslide decal capable of using white that is opaque enough for one print to cover with out overlays. Clear decal, not white background printed. thanks!

If you wash it a few times, the laser printer's toughness gets wrinkled and so on. DTF is really good. I regret buying the Oki printer, too. Damn it!

The white toner printer transfers do not stretch much - the DTF transfers are pretty incredible. Yesterday I actually stretched one so much I thought I was going to rip the shirt and the design just popped back into place.

only concerning question i have is which of the two can be placed using a normal heat press without much hassle?

the high volume DTF printer transfer is more forgiving, but you'll still need a commercial quality heat press for BOTH

Hello, What's the white ink like? Does it compare to DTG in terms of regular maintenance, Does the nozzle block frequently if not in use? Does the environment play a huge role etc: temp, humidity? Thanks.

I’m very indecisive on whether to purchase a white toner or dtf printer …. I hear & see a lot of videos describing the feel & longevity of both types … some describe the prints as soft & others as a plastic vinyl or sticker … I purchased a dtf print from someone & the one I received…. Once applied to the tee shirt, it felt stiff & very similar to vinyl… in your video, you stated that it’s a very thin layer & soft …. I didn’t like the feel of the dtf print because of its vinyl feel …. Before I invest in either the white toner or dtf printer, how could I get the print to be soft, flexible & stretchable as described in this video

Hey Donnie! There are a lot of benefits to each system and it really depends on your business model. If you are a high production shop and going to be using your machine daily, a DTF Printer is a great solution. DTF. I have a white toner printer and the prints look great until you wash them. They might last 10 washes. Mine is just sitting there. I’m looking for was to repurpose it because I can’t do T-shirts with it. I got a sample to their DTF printed shirt and it was still looking new after about 25 washes. I’m trying to get one. Just need financing.

After going deep down the DTF rabbit hole I would 100% say white toner unless you print daily. We went on vacation for a weekend and the white plugged the print head. Were unable to clean it out and had to replace it. Went away again and had someone run a test print for us to keep it moving.. yep.. clogged again when they couldn't follow the instructions. Had to send it out to a specialist to clean the lines and head. Spent a ton on parts, different inks etc and in the end lost another print head. Packed it in and now looking at a Uninet 560. When it printed the prints were vibrant and felt great but in our use case DTF was the wrong way to go.

Wish you had covered the ease of apply remove , as i find white toner prints a B to remove and doesn’t always come out clean

White toner is faster than these entry level or epson converted DTFs. If you know what you are doing with WT you can get amazing durability with over 50 washes....breaking the rules using fabric softener and drying on HIGH heat. I'm in WT groups and I get to see why most. have issues with durability. Folks ain't giving up their secrets though🤣🤣.I'm not gonna say what all I know but here is ONE tiny hint. Take the normal instructions and toss them out and learn how to do your own testing

@@cjblackjr when it comes to WT prints....the feel depends on the different factors. 1. Rasterization....2...Transfer being used and 3......the garment. There is a transfer that sets softer the more you wash and dry it. Then eventually (If done correctly) it's more like a DTG print). Here is how I test durability. I use fabric softener when washing and I dry with HIGH heat. I'm trying to destroy it. Again....the instructions dont always apply because its different depending on the garment. Even the pressure. If you know what you doing you can run with the BIG DOGS. The test on high heat is what tells the story...not low heat. Pressure is KEY also

I have white toner and it’s the worst purchase I ever made. Such a money pit and the washability is awful. Maybe 10 washes if you’re really lucky.

@@ColDesiColman I currently order from Supacolor which is DTF so I know what it feels like. But I am going to look into getting a printer to do it in house because their pricing is pretty absurd for lower quantities.

@@bhutch216 There are some differences between different DTF printer outputs because of ink variations, powder application and drying strategies. You might want to get s DTF sample from us to compare to Supacolor anyway.
