My Great Uncle Emil, who was a Buick-Oldsmobile man, was the first to take delivery of the all new for 75 Park Avenue. His car was very early production, August of 74. The first few examples were called the "Park Avenue Deluxe" executive editions, only a handful built which his car was, his car had airbags and a dealer installed telephone, at just a tick over 10,000 fully loaded, nothing was left out, it cost a little more than a new Sedan DeVille, Lincoln or a 98 Regency. The badge on the dash said, Park Avenue Deluxe. The Deluxe edition actually had velour on the dashboard which the regular Park Avenue did not have. Have never seen another Deluxe edition as it was too expensive, nobody wanted to pay Cadillac money for a Buick but what an amazing machine.

I worked at a Buick dealership as the 76 model year ended and the 77's started arriving. It was so sad to lose these magnificent cars as the 77 models just weren't up to these standards. The turn signal chime on a 76 is beautiful. Our last Park Avenue was a pretty yellow and I remember one lady being so disappointed that the only one left was not a color she liked (she bought it anyway!). We eventually got used to the downsized Buicks, but something definitely was missing. At least we had the Regals which weren't downsized for another year The 350 was very nice in that car too.
