As Tanzanian i can agree to some point on what youre saying because i lived in Dar and i visited Nairobi regularly, these two cities and people can not be compared, Nairobi is more modern and advanced technologically and socially way far than Dar, Dar is full of coastal people who are much slower and Swahili Natives, Nairobians can only be compared by people from Northen Tanzania, Arusha and Kilimanjaro. Dar is beautiful city and is growing fast but Nairobi is on another level, and it is the people makes that difference.

@amarido12 Asante ndugu yangu...he should've compared Dar with Mombasa. Same speed 😂 Dar has a life, and its healthier;less stress. Whats the rush? The Kiswahili sanifu unifies the whole country. But the white man can't get those subtle points. ❤ from 🇰🇪

@@raanajak471 Many of tourists attractions in Kenya are around or closer to Nairobi, so the city is full of tourists, thats why Kenyans automatically became friendly, polite and welcoming and English became priority, Unlike Dar tourism is not Major business, the City have more of local vibes with very minimal numbers of tourists, Tanzanian Goverment is now trying to invest more in modenizing the city to keep tourists longer, for a long time touriss visit Tanzania to go to National Parks and visit Zanzibar and leave immediately , very few hanging around , Nairobi discovered that is more profitable to invest in infrastructure and in businesses that will keep visitors longer by making them feels at home, many tourists feels more at home in Nairobi and they stay longer, and some wants to move parmanently.

Stop the cap, I know a Jealous KunyaMavi when I see one! These two GREAT cities cannot be compared, Dar is more like LA while NRB is like NY!! You try and work in over 30 degree weather with high humidity & hardly any wind, it sucks the life out of you! Y’all NAIROBI folk are used to that cool temperature like London, perfect for business! Now wait we got DOM coming up! It’s gonna rival NRB within the next 5-10 years, mark my words!!

When comes to language you shouldn't complain. You're In a city of Swahili speaker, why should they speak English? why can't you bother to learn proper Swahili. That's like asking native London residents to speak arabic or Swahili when English is their native language. I appreciate Nairobi speaks English but you can't complain about Dar people not speaking English when you're fully aware Swahili is their language. I don't hear this narrative with Chinese, or Japanese but only when comes to African languages it seems no respect. If you want to live in a city of people who speak English then do that but don't go to non-english speaking cities and ask for privilege of them to speak to you in English. You should appreciate the fact that they are even trying too. Cut the entitlement.

@@ArchitectRussell It is not a city of Swahili speakers. Mombasa they priorities Swahili far much more than Nairobi does. Yes they do speak Swahili but English is their default language. Meanwhile Dar is a Swahili city to the core. If you've lived long enough in Tanzania you should understand that simple difference. You can try to be funny and all sort of laughing emojis but you need to show respect to our language. I'm not trying to be mean but it's disgraceful to try speak foreign language to a country you fully know Swahili is their default language and then complain why they don't speak good English.

Honestly, this analysis tell more about you as a person than Dar and Nairobi as cities. First, you have to understand about the diversity and cultural dyanmics and differences between people of Nairobi and Dar. SWAHILI.. if you want to live or work in a country you have to atleast try to accomodate that country culture. You cant complain about people not speaking english as if is some accomplishment, when you come as a tourist you will get some guidance but if you want to work and live in Tanzania as a Brit, learn some Swahili and be respectful. MUSIC... Tanzania love more their own music "Bongo Fleva".. again dont expect Tanzanians to love your international music more than their own.. I know you try to be honest, but you come a bit less considerate, as if the only way to be developed in your lens is for Africans to be more like Westerners.. Respect African culture and our ways of life.

Firstly, my analysis was predicated on an empirical examination of the tangible differences between Nairobi and Dar Es Salaam, rather than a mere reflection of personal predilections. The diversity and cultural dynamics of both cities were meticulously considered, and highlighting these differences does not inherently diminish respect for either locale. Regarding linguistic integration, while it is undoubtedly crucial to assimilate and respect the local language and culture, it is also a pragmatic observation that English serves as a lingua franca in many global business milieus. This acknowledgment does not seek to undermine the significance of Swahili but rather to elucidate the practical challenges faced by expatriates and tourists. On the subject of musical preferences, my observations were not predicated on an expectation that Tanzanians should favor international music over their indigenous genres. Instead, it was a recognition of the distinct cultural predilections that imbue each city with its unique atmosphere. The objective was to provide a nuanced and balanced perspective, not to insinuate that development is synonymous with adopting Western paradigms. It is essential to respect and honor African culture and ways of life, and this principle underpins my analytical endeavors. The analysis was intended to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the rich cultural tapestries inherent in both cities.

I prefer visiting than living in Mombasa as the weather isn't as favourable. Use of AC sucks 😞. Houses in Nairobi rarely have ACs. I found Kampala to be more integrated - poor and rich live together freely. There are parts of Nairobi one may never visit in their lifetime. If you're poor, there are the rich parts of Nairobi you may never know exist and the opposite is true. Poor and rich people may not meet at all. 😢😞 I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing, but it explains glaring disparities.

I think both cities are beautiful in their own ways, but Nairobi has an edge over Dar es Salaam. Tanzanians might complain about this 😂😂. Nevertheless, I found your video very condescending, reflecting a typical British mentality and loaded with generalizations. While many Kenyans and Tanzanians may not have the same financial means as most Europeans or Britons, believe me, some have as much money as any European or even more. Your argument should have a more nuanced and respectful discussions about different cultures and cities. I think it’s crucial for content creators to avoid generalizations and approach such topics with a balanced and respectful perspective.

Arusha nayo it's not situated well to outdo Dar despite elevation. Btw Lagos, Dakar and Abidjan have the same all year round heat and humidity of Dar. Imo I think the heat and humidity works against worker's productivity. Every time I go to Kenyan coast (Mombasa, Kilifi, Malindi), I can't imagine living a long time in that heat. Although we can learn a lot from a city like Singapore which also has terrible heat & humidity. The advantage of kina Dar es Salaam and other coastal cities is logistics. Btw TZ has bigger untapped potential than Kenya. It has more resources, more land, more arable land and higher population. I think the ONLY advantage that Kenya has right now is human capital. But I would argue that human capital outweighs everything else if your competition is far behind.

@@almor44444 Not in the near-term. Assuming no major shock to both economies (e.g. Covid) Tz's economy will grow at a slightly higher growth rate than Ke in the next decade according to W.B. and Afdb projections. Still the difference is small enough that Kenya will be ahead maybe until the 2040s. Tz's economy isn't as formalized & their infrastructure spending is lower. But like I said with the right direction, the country has potential to be bigger than Ke. It has way more resources, way more land, way more people. Also it's extremely cheaper to produce anything in Tz than Ke. Cheap agricultural products will price out Kenyan farmers (given EAC is a free market) and cheaper safaris will attract more tourists to Tz. Unfortunately, the current policy makers in Ke aren't acknowledging this so that they can shift the kenyan economy to manufacturing.

Vibrance is having a city so green that it's nick named the green city in the sun , yet so Morden that it's crowned the most developed city in East Africa. Having a public urban park like Uhuru park in the middle of Nairobi CBD screams vibrance, a city full of life , in both Morden and natural aspects. I saw a Tanzanian KZfaqr called Bertin being shocked by Nairobi's malls ( esp Two rivers mall) and the streets of CBD it even got cringe at times lol. I wonder if the two cities, perhaps the two countries, were to be compared based on the affordability, creativity and hospitality behaviors of the local. Also, Tz is still lost in a sense of embracing capitalism or socialism. What can be achieved by relying on local availabilities. Nairobi has more people that have traveled beyond the Kenyan borders and has more foreigners, so we should expect to have a lot of imports where in Tzn the socialism attitude has forced people to produce a number of things at home. But then what are the local ones producing which can serve as ambassadorial beacons. Of course I am Tzn as you can tell from my articles but at Simamiatv we try to neutral as much as possible.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Comparing Nairobi and Dar es Salaam based on affordability, creativity, and hospitality is indeed interesting. Both cities have unique strengths shaped by their distinct histories and cultural contexts. Tanzania’s approach to balancing capitalism and socialism creates a different economic dynamic compared to Kenya. Dar es Salaam's emphasis on local production highlights a resilience and resourcefulness, fostering creativity in how locals meet their needs. Meanwhile, Nairobi’s openness to global influences, fueled by more travel and foreign presence, brings in diverse ideas and products. Local production in Tanzania serves as a testament to innovation and self-sufficiency. Products like Tanzanian coffee, crafts, and textiles are excellent examples of what locals produce that carry cultural significance and economic value. Both cities have their own ways of contributing to their national and regional identities, making each unique and valuable in its own right. Your efforts to maintain neutrality are commendable, and such discussions only enrich our understanding of these dynamic cities.

How do you Compare a City of Nairobi which has Colonial Architecture as the Colonizers were allowed to Stay in Nairobi to continue with their business even after Kenya independence, Compare to Dar- Tanzania 🇹🇿 where all Colonizers togather with their Businesses were Kicked out During independence? How do you compare buildings were built in the 50-60s by British colony to the City of Dar where British did not Built anything as they were just a Trustee and not an Owner? Nairobi was inherited from Colonizers while Dar was built by Natives gradually to what it is now. You should have done research first before comparing Eggs with Beans. Can’t you see Most buildings in Nairobi are from colonial Era and they just got renovated? Have you seen anything in Dar written British or Queens lounge? It seem like you came from the village in Europe anyways.. because you don’t even know how to read cities language .

Your comments reflect a narrow perspective. Nairobi and Dar es Salaam have unique histories that shape their identities. Nairobi’s colonial architecture is a testament to its past, but it has grown into a modern city with diverse influences. Dar es Salaam, developed by its own people, showcases a different kind of resilience and growth. Before making uninformed comparisons, perhaps broaden your understanding of both cities' histories and developments.

The amount of ignorance in your comment is profound, Nairobi's colonial buildings are only a handful like the Archives , show me one skyscraper in Nairobi that was built by the colonialists , meanwhile Dar es salaam is full of Arabic and Indian architecture. Nairobi is known for its Morden skyscrapers like the GTC and 88 Nairobi not colonial structures , so your argument is baseless

Mostly of these UTuber bloggers etc, ur big problem is this one u judge and compares others from the side of ur world and u don’t wan be in their world since ur there. Languages is ur problem not ours at all,English is not our and not proud of it. Since U here u learn ours, many cities in the west they don’t speak English too.I don’t agree everything u just said, lam not sure who was ur guid or u just travelled with Google info. these are more less stereotypes and cultural issues, locations and more. For those visitors and bloggers interested compared cities or some places should learn more about the place and the people around not always about u and where u come from and ways of life for where u came from. Ur life is urs out there and when u visit other places and people learn their ways of life. Dar is African,Swahili, german,Indians,Arabs and more. Bcoz it coast and mixed cultures. Nairobi was a British town, many owned by westerners.British never build shxxt in Dar most we built and building ourselves. U should learn our history before starting ur comparison.

Actually, I live in Dar, not just passing through as a tourist. My goal isn't to judge but to offer a comparison based on diverse experiences. English may not be the primary language here, but I respect and am learning Swahili. It's about appreciating the unique blend of African, Swahili, German, Indian, and Arab influences in Dar. Your assumptions about my understanding are off-base. Before criticizing, maybe consider that my perspective comes from living here and engaging with the culture firsthand.
