I have a CS SRK (Aus-8a version), great knife and I will be doing a overview soon on it as well.One of my favorite medium belt knives, have you seen the NZ brothers vid and what they did with the SRK? Absolutely sold me on the SRK and you can't go wrong buying (or winning..LoL) one

I like both as each has something to like. While they do have similar feel they also have a different feel about them as well.

agreed mate, it does add to the grip with insertion as well.

yep, play with sharp things invariably you are going to cut your self. I always tend to cover all those little cuts when on camera as they are unsightly.

just looked it up, VG-10 laminate (san mai) and G10 rather than the micarta, looks perfect and I will not be missing out on this run and getting on as soon as they come through to Australia (through to Cleavers)

Just ordered one from Clearers, just have to see how long it is until they filter through to us.

@@waveman0 Now when i finally saved for Taipan, Black Bear classic came back. Unfortunately i can't afford both.

Be aware that it comes from the factory with edge bevels of around 20 dps on most of the edge transitioning to nearly 30 dps nearer the tip and very inconsistent, so sharpening it the first time is a nightmare. The balance is also all wrong because they forgot one of the most important parts of copying Bob Loveless' work: A tapered tang. Best of luck.@@waveman0

all are full tang AFAIK, all are advertised as full tang, though I have never cut a handle off to check. I do get feedback from a magnet right at the end of the pommel indicating that there is metal back there.

most likely, depending on price and condition of the knife though, most people would want a lot of money for one these days because they are no longer made and are as rare as hens teeth.

you don't need a why mate, enjoy, it's a favourite of mine as well.

AFAIK mate double edged knives and daggers are perfectly legal here in QLD (and I just searched the QLD police site again, and in particular under cat M weapon, which deals with 'bladed' weapons with no mention of daggers or double edged knives) and if you go to say Cleavers they clearly sell double edged knives (the OSS for example, but state PROHIBITED ITEM IN VIC & ACT) but even in a state where the item is prohibited you can still get an exception if you jump through the right governmental hoops and get the right paperwork.

both my OSS and OSI balance right at the guard, and considering the cost of either just pick both up and see for your self.

Great! Still forward of where the Black Bear balances in the handle, as it should be. I was judging from a photo of someone balancing one on a finger just ahead of the guard, my bad. My point is, that there's plenty wrong with the C.S. Black Bear, especially with what you'll pay for one.@@waveman0

of coarse, the only time I can openly carry a fixed blade knife is when I am on private property and say hunting.

@Lightning Strike yeah Australia sucks for its carry laws (or lack thereof) and we have gone really down hill since 1996 were basically can't carry anything other than a swiss army knife or pen knife. It doesn't look like getting any better either.

I am sorry I don't have a Marauder, so obviously I would pick the Boar Collector. Also unless you are under weight restrictions or some other restriction why pick and take both?

I haven't done any definitive tests but the sub-hilt doesn't feel like it gets in the way and seems to make it better.
