What a magnificent remaster. It's not just the clarity and sharpness that gotten the boost, but the way more natural color tones and black levels makes this movie looks mind popping, nearly 40 years later.

The 4k discs with the new audio tracks are amazing they really bring new life to the franchise. Felt like i was watching the lost ark for the first time on vhs on my old crt tv when i was 5

Now THAT'S what I call an impressive 4K upgrade. So much more detail and skin tones look so much more natural. This is going to be an essential purchase for Home Cinema fans.

It's true that it can be a good collection but don't get carried away too quickly because there are some small technical issues which have not been solved since the previous version. I will make a very small video if I ever have time because it's important for people to see it.

@@Mymoonization Honestly, those small technical problems aren't a concern to me, as I'm not aware of any from watching the 2012 box set.

This is what happens when you shoot a movie on a low grain film stock. Thank goodness they chose Eastman 100T 5247.

This is a no-brainer--I'm splurging for the 4K. It's MUCH improved over the pale, bleached out 1080p. The opening Paramount logo and the sunset shot with Indy standing while the Arabs are digging for the Ark are the clinchers--MUCH more realistic.

I had the Blu ray on last night. The bit where Indy threatens to blow up the Ark looks stunning. Dazzling sunshine, excellent natural colour. I can't see how the 4k could improve?

I may make the upgrade. It’s so hard to tell from youtube due to compression. Love your channel though, been using it to decide on upgrades for 3-4 years now. Sometimes I just upgrade and end up loving the transfer even if I didn’t see a huge difference in the comparison video. 4k disc playing on a 4k tv will always be the best way to watch. Thank you again.

True, here on Utube I did not find much difference in PQ, maybe disc on 4k player and OLED may do some justice.

Wow. So much more detail that was just not visible in the blu ray version. That scene with Indy and Marion tied up under what I thought was a terrible green screen moon was a lamp!? Can’t wait for this.

Hey Barry what’s Up :) Well you will not be disappointed even if there are still some errors which have not been solved like the 2012 version unfortunately. However, the HDR does play its role in a significant way and the Dolby Atmos is quite timid at times but the sound environment is very well distributed. Cheers !

Wow! I’m very impressed! This looks like a genuine upgrade. Nice work Spielberg! Definitely way better than the 4K remasters for the Star Wars saga. True they did fix the poor Magenta colour timing from the 2004 DVD and 2011 Blu Ray and it looks closer to how it did theatrically. That is if you watch the updated 2019 regular Blu Ray. On the 4K Blu Ray, everything looks darker. I was definitely disappointed with that remaster.

Wow big improvement of detail... faces, background dark detail,not so much orange color of the actors faces like with the bluray I'd say it's a homerun..the best it will probably ever look...

I remember getting the 4K & when the first scene started I immediately went "Wow!" That's the sign of a good upgrade when the first shot of a movie looks that good on 4K.

They did brilliant with this remaster! Keep the same feel and tone while also changing it for the greater good! Unlike King Kong where the colors were everywhere and didn’t feel the same. They did fantastic! Fortune and glory 😉. Glad they didn’t screw this up with these 3 masterpieces! Can’t wait! Also amazing comparison! Thank you! Been watching because IM TOO HYPED!

It's interesting because the 4K UHDs usually crop more whereas in this case it shows more. Not sure why they choose to crop more of the picture in most 4Ks. granted, it's usually only a few lines of information but why? It drives me crazy too :P Thankfully this release seems to be more generous in some areas.

I wasn't initially a fan of some weird choices in the Blu-ray version. There were some weird tint going on when he enters the temple and escapes. I think the 4k fixes all of that.

I'm likely in the minority as I'm fully satisfied with the blu-ray. Growing up with the pan-and-scan VHS, that's good enough for me.

I just watched this on my 65" oled and for some reason when the 4k version wipes in I see a huge improvement in the colours but it takes about 2-3 seconds for the sharpness to kick in. Was this by design or could it be a KZfaq compression glitch do you think?

It’s YT JB and i don’t know why but sometimes my videos are in processing and unfortunately it may take longer than expected before it stabilizes.

One "downside" of the new discs is how much they show up models, puppets are matte shots. However this is welcomed over digital tinkering fixes and these are the films I saw in the 80s at the cinema so I was more than happy.

Nope but it’s the HDR which makes the image more beautiful with a very improved contrast density. More like the 2012 version at the beginning of the film there are some sequences of which you will see the duplicate image (enough float on the faces of the characters) and it was unfortunately not solved.

I still had a Cathode ray tube TV in 2008 when the Dark knight came out and The Advertising in a Shopping Mall comparing Images on LCD TVs was Laughable. The image was never as bad as they would have us believe

The biggest improvement seems to be from the way it's been converted to digital, with the 4k obviously being superior. Given that the upload is in sdr, does this mean it would be possible to convert the 4k HDR into 1080p sdr and give a much better version than the 2012 conversion?

When it comes to movie quality the 4K is better when it comes to Extra Indy content and better DVD box set the blu ray is better.

Unfortunately this youtube video is at 1080p, so while it looks better, I'm not sure this is the best way to show 4k improvement. LOL.

Probably not getting this. I just don't think these "upgrades" should be made without George Lucas's approval. That's largely why the Blu-Ray of Star Wars Episodes I-VI is the main version I watch. Because those were the movies that George made, not the ones that Disney tinkered with. Same goes with this collection.

The Disney released ones are the ones he tinkered with. All with his permission. I'm not a fan of modern day revisions of films. Especially what happened to Star Wars.
