Nobody can break kallis record. Virat kohli is very close to beating Sachin's record of 100 international hundreds. But I don't think anyone can get close to kallis. He has 13k plus test runs. And almost 300 wickets, with more than 100 catches. This record is unthinkable & remarkably unbelievable.

Kallis v sobers is no contest. All other all rounders (botham, Dev, Kahn, stokes,etc) batted at 5 through 8. Sobers one third of his tests at 4 and the rest at 5,6 or even 7. Lots of not outs on those slots. Kallis batted at three and four. That’s it. A batters batter. Where Sachin, Lara and Ponting bat and averaged better than all 3 of them. Take away Sobers one knock of 350 odd not not and he dips to 54. Also half of Kallis’s innings were in SA. Which is renowned as the hardest place to bat. Everyone who bats in SA averages 10 lower than anywhere else. Yet he averages 55. In a premium batting slot. From 1999 to 2013. His average was 62. That’s Steven smith averages for 14 years. His batting is in another league. Bowled 20 overs per test vs sobers 43. And by default therefore could’ve reached 500 wickets had they tossed him the ball more. Just because the likes of Steyn, Donald, Pollock. philander, Morkel bowled ahead of him made it hard to get a slot. So was always a first or second change bowler. Ofcourse there were better batters and bowlers. And yes bradmans feats with the bat outweigh even Kallis. But cricketer implies bowling, batting and fielding. So he is no doubt the greatest “cricketer” ever. 25000 runs 550 plus wickets 330 catches if you add ODI’s Trust me anyone reading this .... your grandchildren won’t ever see that record broken. No comparison. How can you compare 5-6 cricketers with 2? I mean Kallis = batsman+fast/medium bowler, but Sobers = opening batsman + middle order batsman + opening pace bowler (seam+swing) + left arm orthodox + chinaman/googly + slip catcher + amazing outfielder. Not to forget, exciting captaincy as well. Seriously, the only people who can think of comparing are millennials who are hearing about Sir Gary for the first time.

Greatness of cricketer should not be defined by number of runs or centuries one scored but by the number of match winning innings he played or innings played in hard times . Maybe number of Man of the Match one got can be a good criteria for calling someone great . Kallis (23) is leading all other greats even Tendulkar ( 200 matches - 14 Mom) with 64 % more MoM despite of Africa being a great batting unit. This shows the contribution of this player to S. Africa and that's what all matters.

I have watched both Gary Sobers and Jack Kallis. In my opinion Gary Sobers was a greater entertainer. To watch Sobers play is a thrill.

Ken Barrington had a superior batting average than Sobers but everyone regarded Sobers as a more dangerous batsman.Kallis is similar batsman to Barrington,hard to get out but doesn't hurt you.Also,batting in the 50's to the early 70's was tougher than Kallis' era,Sobers would've averaged 65 in the modern era.Sobers wins.

How many world cups did kallis win zero. Stats don't tell the full story. The fact he flew under the radar for so long shows he wasnt a match winner. Sobers is easily the best a match winner in the truest sense. Kallis is not even close to sobers. Sobers then Imran Khan second.
