My one male betta attacks snails and flares at the nearby tank. My other male betta lives with african dwarf frogs and adopted some molly fry I gave him as a snack. Personality is key. My female betta lives with neon tetras and cherry shrimp and has no problems at all.

I have built a barrier in a 20 gallon to keep my betta away from my Tetra and Danios but 5 minutes later he was on the other side just minding his own business

My male loves his 20gal with a female betta, 4 cory's, 3 ottos and 2 male guppies and 3 cherry shrimp. When i first introduced the female to him, he got SO excited it was adorable, and he immediately began showing her around the tank and where he hides and makes the bubble nests.

I'm just starting out with my first fish in YEARS (since I was very young). I really enjoy the step-by-step in all the processes of setting up a new tank as well as introducing a betta. So thank you so much for making this series. =)

I have 6 betta fish and 5 of them get along with tank mates very well. However, I have 1 female betta who will fight and bully any tank mate no matter what. She is in a 10 gallon all by herself lol

My beta is crazy all over the place very active had 3 amano shrimp ,beta made one jump to his death, 2 still remain with 2 asasin snells and 4 apple baby snells that came in with the plants . I tend to have the most success when tank mates aren't actual fish. My bettas prefer tank mates like cherry shrimp, snails, and african dwarf frogs

My betta sushi lives with about 15 corys and 10 rummy nose tetras he lordes about the tank making sure everyone is ok in his kingdome.

My go to tank mates are definitely White Cloud Minnows. I have had no problems keeping them with my Bettas or my female sorority.

Great video! I’m extremely new to the hobby and my pet store told me I could place up to six neon tetras in with my 10 gallon divided betta tank. My betta’s are not as aggressive and accepted the tetras really well 5 days ago. However last night I noticed one of the Tera were completely missing and another tetra had an extremely full belly. He passed this morning. Are tetras known to eat each other? I’m taking your advice & picking up a 10/20 gallon today to move them into! Hoping for no mishaps once they’re moved.

5:51 there is also the bristlenose plecos, those can be in 20 gallons but its not unheard of for people to keep one in a 10 gallon with a betta.

an underrated little pleco is thw rubber lip pleco. highly recommend :)

I also have Multiple Tank Syndrome, but (un)luckily the disorder is being kept in check through lack of available electrical plugs in my home. Lol.

I've had a lot of success keeping my bettas with corys and my bristlenose pleco. Even one of my somewhat aggressive males never bothered the pleco even though he would occasionally flare at the corys during his first few weeks in the tank. But eventually all of my bettas have learned to accept tankmates. Some might have needed the tank to be more heavily planted, and some might have done better with non fish species like African dwarf frogs, but in my experience I've been able to keep all of my bettas in community tanks with great success. I find overall my bettas stay a lot more active and healthy and I avoid keeping my bettas in solitary tanks after initial quarantine but of course this is my personal preference.

I have a male Betta in my 65 Gallon community Aquarium with tetras , Gouramis , Cory cats , zebra danios and there is no issues the Betta just does his thing completely gets along with every one .

Hi hun , I'm O.C. and I have a community tank with a half moon betta, in this tank I have 2 mystery snails Two Coreys about a dozen ghost shrimp a dwarf Cherry cray and scissor tail tetras. The betta compleatly ignores them , a little defensive during feeding but ya they all get along okay.

I recently added a rabbit snail to my tank (only company my Betta has and he has ignored the new addition, hurray!) and when I mentioned to the independent shop my interest in Cory’s she dissuaded me from putting multiple algae eaters in the tank, concerned they wouldn’t have enough to eat. Have you run into this issue before? Mine is a 10 gallon with 7 live plants and lots of light. I’m not sure if this would be an issue, and was curious on your experiences! for my new 14.5 gal tank i was planning on a planted aquarium with a betta ive planned it out ( aqua scape/hard scape) i was going to put some white mountain minnows in and some otocinclus and add some snails in tho im not sure exactly how mant i was going to put 6 of each and the one betta or is that a bit over stalked ? maybe 4 catfish and 6 minnows?

I also have an Ancistrus and 2 clinthons snails in this tank. I now have a snail invasion but it's an other species that came with some plants I bought. (if you have any suggestion to help me please do..) I'm thinking to buy a bigger tank but now I'm worried to transfert my snail problem with them...

My Koi Betta has been in a community tank since mid november, we have cardinal tetras, neon tetras, and glowlight tetras, as well as otto cat fish and ghost shrimp. He seems very happy with them amd goes up them, non aggressively. More like Hey buddy how you doing, hes such a sweet betta ❤

I hope eventually I can get an even bigger tank for my Betta. Although I clean it regurally my two snails had babies back in March, which led to many snails. I think there may be about 20 left since my Betta has been eating some of them (thankfully), but this has caused green alaege to form on the top of the water. Every time I clean it, it forms again, which is pretty annoying. I hope to buy possibly a 20 gallon tank for my Betta, so he'll have more space and so I can have bottom feeders instead of snails. I might take one snail out of that tank however.

i had a betta with corydoras habrosus and the betta did not like it. he couldn't eat or attack them, so he had to do something else to get them out of his tank. everytime i fed the fish, the betta did not eat his own food. He just floated above the sinking pellets for the corys and when they tried to eat the betta scared them away to starve them.

Would 6 harlequin Rasbora be sutible with a betta in 10 gal? I know you said that 5 would be the most you would put in 10 gal but just curious.

I've had a female betta in a ten gallon for a little while and I got another female betta and a cory with some live plants to put in the tank with her. At first she was pretty aggressive and was fighting with the other betta but after about half an hour they started swimming together and all three were all swimming peacefully together. Recently the original betta has gotten aggressive again and is flaring at the other two and attacking them. Will she be peaceful again after a little while or do I need to get more Cory's or put her in a solitary tank? (I only have a bowl spare to put her in and I don't really want to do that)

I have mine with a school of neon tetras and a blue ram in a 29 gallon. They get along great. the ram and betta ignore each other completely.

I have Endlers and Harlequin Rasboras living with mine and they seem to get on well! I had Rosy Red Minnows in with a Betta a while back and they did great, but after the betta died and I got a new one, they nipped his fins into something awful!

My betta fish lives with 3 mollies and they go together. The betta seems mostly uninterested with the mollies. However these mollies are the white orange ones. I tried including one colorful dalmation molly but he would chase him around most of the time. So it depends with the color of the mollies you introduce to the betta.

All my Chinese algae eaters were super aggressive chasing them away from bottom food. One time my algae eater picked a fight w my dominant danio and lost. That took all the bully out of him and he became much more peaceful after that. Watching your video was very informative

My bettas are the opposite when it comes to platies, they flare at them :( Thanks for the suggestion of Seachem Safe, it works better for my tanks!

I'm just getting back into the hobby after many years. But as a kid I had 300 litre (75 gallon) tank and in those pre-internet days I just bought the fish I thought were pretty. Over the years I had, along with various male bettas (one at a time), dwarf and golden gouramis, fancy guppys, platys, mollys, swordtails, dwarf rams, neons, zebrafish and angelfish. The only fish that were problematic with my bettas were the angelfish. On one dreadful occasion two moderate sized angels ate several female bettas that I had brought back from Sri Lanka. Sadly I only discovered this when I came downstairs in the morning. But the bettas I had never gave me any trouble in my community tanks. Perhaps because they were always introduced when the community was established, perhaps because the tank was large, perhaps because the bettas (I had 3 or 4 males over the years) were peaceful.

I currently have four 1-year old females in about a 40 gallon area divided off from a 50 gallon with about 10-11 rummy nose tetras and the bettas pretty much ignore them. The tetras swim back and forth like clockwork. One of the more dominant bettas chased them around at first then gave up. The other 10 gallon area is for the mean betta girl who was caught suddenly nipping fins of all all the others out of the blue one day so she’s now permanently isolated.
