Racing a classic car like Greg Porter's is more than a lifestyle, it's an attitude.
One of the pioneering members of the period-correct Gasser movement is Greg Porter, and he has an original gasser from the 1960s.
The Night Stalker, formerly campaigned by Dude Moore, is very much alive and well in the Carolinas thanks to Porter.
CompetitionPlus.tv followed Porter for a day to see what it's like to walk the walk of the Night Stalker.

Even though Quain Stott has been saddled with the responsibility for running the Southeast Gassers, it was Greg Porter's persistence that got that first match race... Greg is the original 'Southeast Gasser' - my hero, too! WillyB

Gregg Porter is my hero night stalker is a wicked car ,thank you for all you have done for the sport . I am an engine builder here just across the s.c - n . c line I love the sound of your engine and the idea of the rpms you turn it ( awesome )

Well done sir. My cousin is Dylan on The Reaper team. All in all, I was quite impressed! I saw you run the season opener at Greer and was impressed there as well. Best of luck to your team at Finals!

Cassandra, thanks for the information. Hope you and Greg have a great season this year! My name 'handle' is - 1776, year that freedom started, vt for Vermont, which was where the.... Green Mountain Boys, with Ethan Allen, brought the war to the British. We lived there almost 30 years and all 5 children were born there. Our son Ira is named after Ethan Allen's brother, Ira.

Not only did he run the 5.66 but did so a day late leaving ...Porter needs to find a Test tree where he can hone them cat like Reflects he don't have yet ...so he can go more rounds maybe even win one ..

Great racer met up with ya a few times at shady side and at Greer I would love to check out your shop I am just across the line in N.C and really wish there were more people interested in drag racing here , I build cars and wish a track was closed thanks to all involved great video 👍

+1776vtgmb - this was in response to Bill's comment. That is why it had a comma after Bill. At the time the comment was made Porter had left the group for a brief time, actually six months, but he has since returned.

Thanks, Comp+.. I've been going through the whole history of the Southeast Gassers and came to the Nov 2013 dustup. Is this when it happened? Or was it when fulton tried to run outside the rules? WillyB - on the Jalopy Journal HAMB

@@1776vtgmb Greg Porter left the group when they changed the motor rules after the Greer Dragway race dustup. There was no drama just a simple Im not changing my motor. They changed the angle of the heads. He was not changing the Nightstalker motor he had run for years and this is still the current motor we run now. I left the group when he left the group. We now run when we want with Southern outlaw gassers or race at any local tracks with open time runs.

Greg Porter left the group when they changed the motor rules after the Greer Dragway race dustup. There was no drama just a simple Im not changing my motor. They changed the angle of the heads. He was not changing the Nightstalker motor he had run for years and this is still the current motor we run now. I left the group when he left the group. We now run when we want with Southern outlaw gassers or race at any local tracks with open time runs.

Hi I have a 55 chevy gasser with a tit hood like u have . how are u mounting the hood to the frame to tit. I bought it this way with hinges from a fence to open and it doesn't work to good.
