Its about the glory of being that first guild or first player to partake in downing a brand new boss, which over the years has evolved into some friendly competition. But unfortunately I believe there is no place for this in Ashes of Creation

Yep, this is a video I've wanted to make several times over the past few years. I have an idea for how they can bring competitive raiding into the game, and not have it impact the gear progression of the world (best gear in a PvX game shouldn't come from purely PvE content), but I don't want them to even think about stuff like that right now. Let's get the game as it was promised into A2 and then launch. THEN, we can consider how to add other elements. Good vid bro, I really enjoyed this one.

Good, competitive PvE is stupid. Being the first to kill a world boss or achieve something in an MMO should be something to do with the server you're in, not a pure PvE instance race. If a guild gets a first raid boss kill on a "dead" server it won't have the same feeling as doing it on a highly contested server. It's a PvX game, if you want to compete in pve then try games made for that

first two sentences are wrong and also rude for no reason. here watch this: competitive pvp in mmorpgs is stupid and not fun. if you want to compete in pvp play cs/lol/dota/smite, virgin.

Yeah the raiding scene is one of my biggest concerns. Hopefully it's still fun enough to attract my raiding friends even if its very different. My hope is that part of the 20% instanced content will be a raid at the end of a big dungeon. So you still have to fight through the dungeon open world but the big boss at the end is instanced. That way you can still have those advanced instanced mechanics in an arena and it doesn't have to be "dumbed down" because of the added open world PvP threat.

I wonder if the strat would be hitting the players to the point where they die to the boss instead of actually killing them, so not a kite but still a way to avoid corruption along with the boss increasing in difficulty due to the mass of players. And a way to combat this is to have 2 groups of players, one for raiding and one for defending, to keep these raid gankers off the raid

I don't recall the skill/stat dampening for doing without being corrupted. I thought it was just 50% of gathered materials and an XP debt 🤔🤔 was all that in the wiki?

Honestly we could see guilds banding together when they show up at the raid at the same time. Win win. Maybe less chance of loot but then you have a better chance of beating the raid and you can share the "world first"

Very simple solution, you recruit dedicated PvP player in your guild that will serve as a buffer and as a cleanup crew for the raiding PvE aspect of the guild...

But having them on sight will automatically increase the bosses difficulty, while those PvP players aren’t actually focusing on the boss 🤔

@@RitchieSH It will be interesting to see how people will go around those game mechanics and if they will or how will the bigger guilds adapt... It's all about balancing how strong the boss is until it's undoable...

The core of it has never changed imo, people’s expectations of what Ashes is supposed to be have been exaggerated greatly, where it’s always been designed as a more niche mmo

The xp debt is just a terrible idea. Wiping and resetting in raids, assuming it's anything like all other mmo's, is going to be super common. Just imagine how toxic and mean everyone will be when someone messes up and wipes the raid, and I for sure will not raid with anyone slightly less than ideally geared or specced because i cant risk it. It's just a horrible system if it launches as stated that will force people away from playing for fun and into ultra sweaty toxic wow M+ mode. If boss/dungeon deaths dont cause xp debt though itll be fine.

PvP interfering in the raiding is really annoying. Might be the deal breaker for me. Doesn't bode well for the game either; heavy pvp usually kills a game in the long term.

I expect that guilds ambushing other guilds while they do Boss mobs or raids to be the normal state of affairs. Large, widely known game events/spawns will 100% PvP during peak times. PvE guilds from other games that expect to operate in the same way as they do in any other game are in for a rude surprise. My advice to them is to not buy the game and just complain in Asmongold's Twich chat.

I would disagree. I believe that the core, long time fan, audience is large enough to support a game through subscription fees where all development costs have already been covered. AoC development is paid for. All Intrepid has to keep the game live is pay for server hosting, customer service, and maintenance of the code by a small team. Profit, while I expect there to be some, is not really a consideration in the live status of the game. @@JustMe99999

Good for Ashes. We are not machine learning, we can't learn only by errors, i like the penalty on death, pvers will need to learn to plan better! Joke asides, i don't think raid will be penalized by how ashes of creation is done, i still think if people want to achieve something, they will care no less of the losses.

I am glad this game is going into a different direction with the "competitive" raiding scene. I have played WoW for over 10 years of my life and I want something new without any form of pay to win & doesn't suck! I have high hopes for Ashes of Creation. I hope they can nail a great combat system, create an amazing & living world/story, in depth crafting/character options, & the node system is fun/important. I have been waiting for an MMORPG to get me off the WoW treadmill for the past 5+ years. WoW PvP is dead/trash tier. WoW Raiding has devolved into: #1 dedicate many hours of life to PTR testing/simulations. #2 Rush & min/max everything for pink parses on warcraft logs. #3 Decide to do split raiding on alts, GDKP, or Raid log (most people) until the next bad guy shows up. #4 Everyone back to the PTR. It is fun & challenging about 25% of the time if you are raiding with people you actually like. AoC could be something special in 2025. Fingers crossed.

raiding is going to be hard...all the big guilds will gather for world bosses...think Kaz from WoW, where it was a huge PvP event while fighting the boss...total chaos lol,

21 years of MMO playing, and I have never raided. I mean it looks fun and all, but I prefer more relaxed guilds, even in PvP games. So I won't miss competitive raiding. But I probably will be one of the a$$hats slowing down other guilds.

This is very wrong. If anything its going to be more competitive because there will be pvp thrown into the mix. The different guilds will still try to get "world first" even more so.

PvP is only a small piece to the puzzle. As I said, world first has a different meaning to it when only a fraction of the servers will even have the same content available to them. Plus most hard core PvE guilds don’t do PvP much and it’ll be a massive adjustment for going into ashes

The majority of the raids are open world right? The main focus of the game is pvp with some pve elements. Thats why steven says this game isnt for everyone because not only are you fighting to kill the boss but you are also fighting against other guilds at the same time. Respectfully disagreeing but i appreciate your reply but i will agree that each server will be different. @@RitchieSH
