In this video, I will be going over Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing. This is a step-by-step tutorial on how to design for free on Canva and then publish a medium content book to Amazon KDP. This is a self-publishing tutorial that will show you exactly how to upload your book to Kindle Direct Publishing. Learn how to self-publish your low or medium content book! See what the upload process is like, what files you need, and more!

Hey Shannon, I'm Eugene, thank you for sharing your content and experience with us, appreciate it! I'd definitely like to see your working process of other low-content or middle-content books (how do you find a proper niche, what tools and fonts do you use, how the overall process looks from scratch, etc.) this would be very helpful for me. I'm a beginner in this field and haven't published any book yet, just gathering some information. How do you think, would it be OK, if I start making low-content books at first and then try to "raise the ante" to make middle-content books, if everything goes more or less well? Hi Eugene! You can definitely start with low content and I will post a video specifically for that. If you want to do a journal, notebook or workbook for low content the majority of the work will have to go into a niche or trendy cover. Niche will give you evergreen and trendy might give me a bunch of sales that will eventually slow. I will work on a video this week talking pros and cons and then walking through designing a low content book for free using canva and a free trial of boltbook. Thanks for subscribing! Stay well!

download the cover based on number of pages, bleed or no bleed, color, and size you want. on that download it tells you the dimensions to create your canva document. then pull over the template you downloaded to make sure your graphics and text fit. if you chose bleed then non text graphics can go to the edge of the page. Text has to stay inside the trim lines (red highlight dots). Interior download the size from gumroad and open a canva with the size indicated on the gumroad template. Text stays inside trim lines (red highlighted dots) and if you chose bleed the graphics can go to the edge. If you chose no bleed everything has to stay inside the trim lines. I have heard amazon is not allowing low content books any more - is this true? I just finished my first coloring book (waiting for it to go live), so am excited to do more, but also have several journal ideas that will be low/medium content.

Congratulations! Low Content is definitely allowed but I have noticed Amazon scaling back resources (ie not giving free ASIN's to low content books). I get that given the increase in low content books that flooded the market. I would just try to make something more unique. If you are going to do journals and medium content I would focus on a nice and niche cover and you should get sales.

Great video! I noticed there was no pictures of the book in the process. I am assuming since the book is not yet published, there is no picture. How do you handle that part? Do you wait for the book to be advertised on KDP, get a copy of the book, take your own pictures, then update the listings? Please advise.

Great question. I create mockups of the book. I mainly use placeit and have some with and some without people. I do a lot of open book mockups to show off as many pages as possible. I have a video up showing how I make create the images on the listing using the kdp marketing page. Once I do that I order a copy and create a video of the book.

Are we allowed to use Pen Names or Brand Names when Publishing or not? I have a brand name & called KDP Support & they said you have to the same name you applied with when publishing. I still am confused because it states we can use Pen Names in KDP terms. Where do we put our brand name? In the Last Name area of Author?

Amazon started requiring the real name a couple years ago. I think it had to due with how many people were publishing low content books and using silly names

I don't think so. I think I am still allowed to use mine since they have been established for years but I think they aren't accepting anymore pen names or brand names unless your account is under that name.

Good video, but this is not necessarily for beginners as you do go quite fast through explications. Would be great if you could slow down the video and actually show step by step. 😅

@@user-qs3ol4gd5x one tip I just used was to add a small box with different quotes on each page at the bottom right. Something that would appeal to your audience. Small enough to not steal from the page but makes pages different enough to go around the low content check.
