As someone who does all my own DIY/house renovation (because I have serious trust issues due to rouge traders and bad work having been done for me in the past), I really appreciate the quality presented in your videos. I'm currently planning out the renovation of a similar sized bathroom and project and have found this really helpful. Keep up the good work and good quality standards!

These videos are brilliant. Im currently renovating my bathroom and taking so much vital information from you. When you came to the pipework for the radiator, how do you debur the pipe without having to drain the heating system? Or do you just drain it enough so there is no pressure in the upstairs radiators? Im rerouting the pipework so the radiator is on a different wall and I'm at this point now. Not entirely sure what the best approach is.

Excellent job! Your videos are so educational, I love them, I noticed in another of your videos you used moisture board for a shower cubicle, but here it looked like normal boards you put up, is it not necessary to use moisture board for a bath shower? I ask because I about to redo my bathroom (DIY attempt) so would be good to know if I need to do the same, or can I just get away with tiles? Cheers.

Good install but you should always fill bath to top with water before siliconing to simulate the weight of a person it so it gets a good seal otherwise when you stand in the bath to have shower etc the bodyweight will drop the bath a few mm meaning water will get under the seal causing water damage and leak
@MJTiffPlumbing
@MJTiffPlumbing 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching the video. That’s exactly right Lee..... that’s why I did that as already addressed in another comment. I always seal up first as per the video.... then fill the bath and seal again, making it a proper job. Also if the bath is dry fitted correctly and securely it won’t drop anyway.
@Wattswood
@Wattswood 3 жыл бұрын
Great Video! many thanks. Can I ask you a question re the bath? As a carpenter/handyman i am often asked to re-silicone around a bath with a shower over. Many of the baths I try to seal have a great deal of flex around the edges even when the bath legs/feet are adjusted tightly / correctly. They pull away from the tiles and inevitably leak around the wall. (most are not sealed before tiling like you did) Perhaps they are cheap bath units and the better baths don't flex? Do you ever consider putting a wooden frame around the three supported edges or additional support under the outside ends to give additional support? Cheers!
@MJTiffPlumbing
@MJTiffPlumbing 3 жыл бұрын
First off thanks for watching. Great question.... and yes I do put a wooden frame on some baths that don’t come with very good fixings, a lot do and if fitted correctly the bath won’t move. But some come with rubbish fixings if any, I will then put a frame under the lip exactly how you have discribed. I will video the next time I do one.... as a lot of people ask

Can't fault the workmanship but the design does not lend itself to easy maintenance. For example, how would you remove the bath panel if this became necessary? Also, how would you gain access to the concealed cistern if the toilet wasn't flushing or was overflowing? I have fitted such units in the past but I don't like them.
@MJTiffPlumbing
@MJTiffPlumbing 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Dennis I was quite limited with this install and the bath taps issue was raised with the client however they wanted it that way so if there is an issue in future the units come out fairly easy… all was agreed and happy with. The cistern os probably one of the best to be worked on due to the fact the top section comes off, along with the front panel and completely exposes the cistern to work on it if needed. Not an issue 👍🏼👍🏼 Again thanks for watching and appreciate the feedback

Is it ok to tile before fitting a bath and if so do you just silicone around the bath or will you need some kind of trim to bridge between the tiles and the round edge of the bath. (Hope that makes sense .

Another great video Mark! Lovin' the "Top Tips" too. Was the tiling straight onto the new board or did you skim it first? Thanks

Nice job MJ but I really wanted to see you silicone behind those taps because I always have to take them off. Did you do it with them in situ and if so can you show how you get the same finish next time because I sure can't. Cheers 🤪

@@MJTiffPlumbing That's a skill on its own, I can't get the tube behind the bloody taps never mind the squeegee. Don't mind taking taps out except when they are on the back and thats a bitch 😠

This is a great little install vid. Similar to what I’m thinking of doing when I move the bathroom but mirror image. Was that a regular size bath though? I have to go for a 1500mm bath. Need to tape it all out on the floor first to see if it’s feasible.

Hi Mark you did a video a long time a go when you was flushing out rads. And you was using a hammer drill 🔨 to remove the sediment from the rads. I need to get one as we are doing a lot of power flushing now. We have a kamco power flushing machine I know you love the Magna cleanser. Can you help me out thanks thank you Emily from CED plumbing and heating we are over in Northern Ireland

Hey, great vid guys. Couple of questions, do you ever use green moister resistant plaster board or does it not really matter? Also roughly what would the cost of this be?
@MJTiffPlumbing
@MJTiffPlumbing 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Mate Yes i do use moisture boards aswell....as for the price it depends on so many different things from what suite to the state of the floor and walls.... anything from £4k to £10k is possible depending

@MJTiffPlumbing maybe I was imagining it, but it looks like you're pouring the sink and it's coming out a hole from the back where it meets the wall, I've never seen anyone do that, maybe it's from the over flow, or maybe it was just the angle of the camera.

Sadly it goes by the finish nowadays. It’ll last, unless it has a leak then it’ll turn to much. But all comes down to price to risk I guess

My name is Kenny i noticed when you were taking the tiles off the bathroom walls you never had eye protection on or dust mask when you were ripping off the old plasterboards off if you got a tile splinter in your eyes it would be a big problem for you hope you take this on board besides that the video was good
