Yes, most other "primitive" channels have basically the same gimmicky content over and over and steal ideas from each other plus they rely on a lot of click-bait. This channel actually shows the process of living off the land and genuine struggles and successes.

Of all the channels that are the metaphorical "children" of the original Primitive Technology, this one is my favorite. Everything you do seems practical and rooted in traditional methods. No gimmicks, just one big ongoing project in the same place that showcases different traditional methods.

Right? There are so many that use clickbait of cute girls in mud or ones where obviously this person couldnt have done the work and didn’t record themselves doing it. This person here though walks us through every step and uses genuine traditional methods. Like their forge bellows or short machete, common designs from Asia.

I'm extremely proud of your accomplishments! I love that you've included a bit of your personal history. I read one of your comments that you live with your parents and relatives, that's wonderful to hear. I thought you were totally alone in the jungle. I think that you are very fortunate to have been raised by supportive parents. This makes you wealthy in the most intrinsic psychological sense. You are also wealthy in your vast knowledge of "primitive skills." I'm assuming that you are highly educated by the way you have constructed EVERYTHING. Making concrete, making steel or iron from rocks, knowing how to create a kiln and using it to fire pots from the porcelain clay you found by the river. Your creative thoughts about a floating rice paddy in the middle of a huge lake that you've made is fantastic. The list goes on and on! Again, I think it's wonderful that you have all this land and the natural resources available. Never mind the naysayers regarding deforestation. You have plenty and you're not cutting hundreds of thousands of acres of trees for profit. ☹ This makes you a "wealthy land owner." I assume you have a car to drive yourself to a town to upload your videos. Unless Internet access is free throughout all of Vietnam...? Either way, stay safe and be well. Looking forward to seeing another one of your impressive videos. Los Angeles, California USA.

A very nice comment, but come on, internet access throughout the mountains and jungle ? I would like some common sense here please. Now, when starlink is gonna be implemented in this world it might be a whole another story, but so far without musks' technology, ain't no way you getting internet where he's at. But nevertheless would be interesting to understand this amazing man's logistics and and whatnot, but at the same time, not knowing is part of the mysterious beauty.

Watching these videos is a calming and interesting experience. That tree you cut down, we don't have those. It did have a beautiful colour in the core though. Living in Sweden, there's so many plants and trees I've never seen. And watching your videos feels like a more "real" experience than watching pictures or a documentary. So thank you for making these! It's a pleasure to watch and learn!

Fascinating watching you put your skills into practice. I wonder if a bamboo guttering system would be useful for directing rainwater away from your walls base. Perhaps directed towards the pond or collected for drinking water in a storage tank. If anyone can build it, you can.

As fellow man from countryside, this tip may be useful for you, The wild cassava you found, grow it again, cut 10 - 15 cm chunks from the cassava branches and replant them. Soft the soil very well (that will allow cassava roots to grow bigger and faster), plant then 2 m away one from another. In around 6 to 8 months you will have a good crop of cassava, the more branches you plant the more cassava you'll get. Keep going

7:22 The inside of that tree looks like flaky fish after it's been cooked! 🐟 Yum 31:31 It may be time to consider hardening the outside of your home with mortar like you've done to the ground and your pond so that it retains its shape. A thin layer on the outside would be enough to help.

Hey. I have been watching you for years now. Thanks for "reaching out" to us, your viewers in the video. It made me feel... welcomed, and wanted. I struggle to think of another YT creator that made me feel that. I have one question, that you probably answered many times before - Why? Why did you choose to live this way? You wrote in one of your films, that you wanted a simple life. But is it simplicity of primitive life that motivates you? Perhaps it is seeing the progress that you make every day? Satisfaction that comes only from hard work. Or perhaps is there something that you dislike in modern society? I think that you have found something that many of us are looking for. An inner peace. So please, share with us. What is it? Did you find peace? How did you do it?

The only thing primitive about my life is me. I can relate, in my own way, to wanting to be alone but in my case it's because I don't understand people very well. I never have and I finally decided not to try to fit in. I wish I had half your energy for the art I do every day. Lately I've been uploading progress on that obsession here twice a day. A painting and a sculpture that are taking a long time but it's what I understand and enjoy. I admire your efforts and the results you have achieved! All the best to you ❤️

The wooden shingles will last pretty long....long enough just as they are. Dont put tar on the roof, it will trap the mosture under the planks making them rot. The air flow up on the roof is sufficient to keep them dry. Its not like wood on the ground or slightly off the ground close to mosture, that will rot faster. Tar only works if it was sealed underneath/before the shingles are put on. Burning the planks on the out side would help a little bit for longevity. Best is to burn and then find an oil/turpentine of some sort and treat the wood with that....then the wood can still breath and dry when its not raining obviously.

You should chop all the weeds on your way, and any organic materials (weeds woodchips from woodworking, rests of food, etc) should be tossed in the ground near the chickens, so they move it around, creating great compost and introducing bugs in the area, that way you’ll have some great fertilizer and the chickens will fed themselves

Growing up poor in America is very different than Vietnam. We helped our parents but the majority of our lessons came from our grandparents, which I believe you said you learned your skills from them as well. Girls learned skills indoors...cooking, cleaning, sewing, food preserving, gardening, child care, scrubbing laundry by hand and the boys learned outdoor stuff like hunting, taking the garbage out, cutting the grass, weeding, building things with wood, metal fabrication, auto mechanics, plumbing, electrical, butchering, wood splitting. I was taught all the skills that my other siblings were because I had a thirst to learn and know how to care for myself in case I didn't have a spouse that knew how to do the things that were needed to survive. We grew up before technology and watching videos on how to do things like you do weren't available. Those skills were taught. I do watch your channel because I love to learn your skills and practice them. I started growing banana because I saw how well they grew and plant much like you do. I love not straying far from my upbringing because I practice my learned skills, save money, sleep great at night because I go to bed tired, and it feels good using what I worked so hard for. I'm not rich and live right at the poverty line but I'm content with that because I have seen what money and wealth does to people.

My grandparents were a poor working class family with 4 kids, so they didn't have it easy. For me, it's not all that bad anymore (i think). But from my grandparents and my mom, because of their poor life, i've learned to always gather and keep resources and materials, and to always use my head to find, not the 'pretty', but the good and creative solutions, whenever something needs to be made or repaired. I've learned that, things like string, wires, bags, buckets, bowls, sticky tape, sticks, and so on, i should always have at home. Watching your videos only teaches me even more things! So, thank you very much! ^^ ....(You never stop learning, am i right?)

@P. Skills: Consider forging an Adze. Its specialized wood working abilities will compliment your Axe/Hatchet. Its form is similar to a Hoe, but it is much narrower and designed to hollow out logs. You have had a number of projects where you had needed to hollow out things. An Adze will make it easier. Obviously, an Axe will do the job, but an adze will make the job easier and give you better results. Side note: Small versions are used to hollow out large wooden bowls. They can be scaled up or down and they are very useful.

Thank you for the written content and telling us about yourself and describing what these different plant are. This will be a spectacular place when you finish. Love the back drop and that large pond. This is my first episode and it is 2:30 a.m., but had to find your site and say how much I enjoy your videos. I'm a subscriber and a thumbs up!

I’ve watched all of your videos, many with my family as well. Thank you for sharing your personal stories! You are a great inspiration. We recently dug out a bunch of clay from our yard in Puerto Rico and created our own pit fired pots. We hope to visit Vietnam some day. Thank you again for all you share.

went to work at age 9 same way, helping elder relatives, my father, and my mother did her thing...lots of hand work done in primitive ways... but because we did not want to owe our soul to the bank...worked to as our building business took off ...at age 21 entered the building trades learned much more ...retired in 2020 had been working constructs for 51 years...and for a job it was an adventure!

Hey, I really love your content! It's really relaxing to watch you work on your small farm and expanding it over time. Keep up the good work and great spirit! It was interresting hearing a bit about your background in this episode. I would love to see a "behind the scenes" sort of episode where you could expand abit about your story and how you make your videos etc. what some of your ideas are and so on. Perhaps a Q&A too :) Kind regards from Denmark ^_^
