I was one of those who suggested not to paint the chimney. I'm glad you didn't and you will not regret. Front of the house looks great and front door looks awesome. You should be proud. As a pro painter for 35 years, I'd guess that deep tone red took more than 3 coats to cover. Deep reds, "simply white" and "chantilly lace" are nearly impossible to cover in few coats.

That came out nice. Its good you didnt paint the chimney. if anything maybe waterseal on the brick. Deck looks nice, i like the composit decking.

I like smoked trout with black pepper, interesting that that's the names of the colors. That chimney looked horrible, but once you used some reddish down below, it blended much better.

your summer home is looking much nice every time you work on it ... I would have painted the front door before hanging it = much faster and easier to paint it on saw horses

Thanks! The reason I didn't paint it before install is because I wanted to install the same day as when I took off the old one so I wasn't without a locking front door. Can't handle tacky paint, ya know?

I like your chimney unpainted too. But I think there is a little bit of tuckpointing work that needs to be done at the top. I'm sure you could handle it. Also, consider staining the bricks instead of painting them. You could choose colors that compliment your front door and there will never be peeling paint.

Muy buena restauración, exento por el color, si el anterior era muy escandaloso, esté es muy lúgubre , hasta el clásico blanco le hubiera quedado bien, con su puerta roja. Pero está es una opinión muy personal. 😊❤ En general quedó mucho mejor que como estaba !

you needed a Bi-Metal holesaw to drill thru the skin on the steel door. also you should get tge new locks before you drill the holes. unless your reusing the existang locks. Usually a modern exterior door has those lock holes closer together. Like the gray tones on the exterior, looks good.

I use Linseed on on my exterior Brick It seals them and It dries Clear and keep the rain out. I use 50% Boiled Linseed Oil and 50% Paint Thinner

Good choice on not painting the chimney. I had previously said you should paint it, but I really like how it blends with the other colors. The house is charming!

Nice work! Definitely do not paint brick, and hopefully you can find a storm door that you like so that the door jamb doesn't rot from all the splash that will hit from the deck.

To make hanging the door easier, install half the hinge on the door and the other half on the frame. Then you can rest the hinges onto each other while inserting the pin. Great job!

Joists: with ANY rot . . . first dig out anything soft, then treat with a borate product like Timbor or Bora Care, let dry. Then use a penetrating epoxy, then a filling epoxy.
