This video, in association with Paul Heat-Recovery Scotland, takes you through everything you need to know about Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery systems, and why they're essential in eco-homes, Passivhaus houses and other homes too.
We talk about improved air quality, reduced humidity, low running costs and how the systems are installed, as well as costs and other useful information.

@0:29 into the video would the exhaust air and unit itself not be better suited to higher up in the building, like the attic. how hard is it to draw hot air down pipes from the upstairs bathroom?? and in that way too it'd be super close to the bathroom which 80% of the time is where its taking the hot and steamy air from so close as possible is better. and the pipes foes into the attic too lol. the hot air from the kitchen is perhaps negligible as there is already a extractor fan for the cooking. and rearranging the system would also save 70% of the piping. extra money saved there alone. I'm not a pro just looking into this for my own self build. just thinking out loud :)

40-60 pounds per year running costs at 20p/ kw ? I don’t think so . This is a very well produced video 8000 pounds for a 3 bed house is a bare minimum cost from Paul .

It's definitely an investment, and in a Passivhaus it's unavoidable - airtight homes must have a ventilation system. If you're planning to be in a house for a long time, it should pay itself off after 5-6 years.
