Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (13 October 1948 - 16 August 1997) was a Pakistani musician, primarily a singer of Qawwali, the devotional music of the Sufis. Widely considered one of the greatest voices ever recorded, he possessed an extraordinary range of vocal abilities and could perform at a high level of intensity for several hours. Extending the 600-year old Qawwali tradition of his family, Khan is widely credited with introducing Qawwali music to international audiences. He is popularly known as "Shahenshah-e-Qawwali", meaning "The King of Qawwali". Born in Faisalabad, Khan had his first public performance at the age of 16, at his father's chelum. He became the head of the family qawwali party in 1971. He was signed by Oriental Star Agencies, Birmingham, England. He engaged in collaborations and experiments with Western artists, becoming a well-known world music artist. He toured extensively, performing in over 40 countries

Nusrat Ji lived the life of only 48 years. He did so much great work in this short time. Imagine if he had lived more than that. We would have gotten to see much more of his greatness.

Mujhe urdu language nahi samjhti aati,lekin Nusrat ji ka kalam jb bhi mai sunti hoo to ek Jadoo mujh par kayam ho jata hai.Mai last 5 years se unko sun rahi hoo lekin unke kalam ne aaj tk mujhe bor nahi kiya.Bhagwan wo jahan hai unko khush rakhe.

That 1hr 10 min long " Ye Jo Halka Halka Suroor Hai" uff kya kehny NFAK sahab k.. Starts at 31:00 and ends at 1:40, that's really something amazing and I believe only NFAK sahab could go that long with one Qawali with more than hundred variations in every single note that takes you to the other world and brings you back to the note, "Ye jo halka halka, ye jo halka" ... ❤️❤️🌷💚❤️💚💚🌷

I knew Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, when I was listening to a LP Rotterdam in 1998. IT was an eye opener for me. So nice, so high and devotion. I didn't understand what he sang, but, as a student musicpedagogy I was so asombrada!!! So perfect his technic and so expresive in many octaves!!! An example of devotion for music, his religion and the songs. I have recorded in one cassette but now I can't listen to what I recorded. Thanks so much for share this jewel.
