It's a really comprehensive and excellent video on the toss, probably the best out there! I have been searching high and low for a good toss video to fix my toss. Would be good if you could show visually in the video (maybe marking the exact spot) where the slot of power/ball toss placement is. I couldn't exactly visualise it. Also, would the spot change between first and second serves?

Great stuff Craig on the toss. Great tips and ideas on getting a consistent toss. Bought into the serve foundation course and it is brilliant and made me very happy, money well spent. Has fixed many of my problems. With regards to source of power, you say it comes from the rotation of shoulder. I don’t quite understand it. You mean power comes from the throwing of your shoulders?
@PerformancePlusTennis
@PerformancePlusTennis 5 жыл бұрын
Laurence Corray Hi Laurence, Thanks for your kind words. Glad to know you are benefiting from my instruction! Regarding the shoulder power. Yes, the balance (trophy position) sets-up the shoulder over shoulder rotation, which then holds and transfers the movement through the playing shoulder. At this point, the playing shoulder rotates out in a movement called “long axis rotation”. This rotation is really what produces the motion of the swing. I hope this helps. Reach out anytime if you have questions. Kindly, John

Good video and some good tips. Does your ball toss vary in lateral and forward placement for your second serve?
@PerformancePlusTennis
@PerformancePlusTennis 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank, Thanks for your great question. I do make slight adjustments for different spins (slice/top). However,I do try to minimize placements. The result is more disguise and ultimately improved accuracy.

Your ball toss tips completely transformed my serve after years of struggling with the toss. I can't thank you enough! One question I had though is tossing for the kick serve if you have your arm at 45 degrees. How do you get it do drift slightly to the left for the kick serve?
@PerformancePlusTennis
@PerformancePlusTennis 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I am so glad my instruction has helped transform your serve! The adjustment for a kick serve is quite subtle. Simply release the ball a little later to have it float back and to the left. I hope this helps. Please let me know. Kindly, John

@@PerformancePlusTennis I've been taking lessons for years trying to fix my serve and get rid of double faults under pressure and nothing helped until now. My main problem before was I was trying to be fluid and moved during the whole motion and also had a little loop when I tossed. I'd also speed up when I was nervous. I can't believe none of the coaches that looked at my serve thought of what you said in the video. I tried releasing a little later for the kick and it works great. Having that eye reference point with a stable base makes my toss very consistent now. Thank you again!
@PerformancePlusTennis
@PerformancePlusTennis 3 жыл бұрын
@@maxpowers3732 You are so welcome! Honestly (and I hate to say it!) but many coaches just "wing it" when teaching the serve. They simply don't have a format for building the skills, and in a lot cases don't have a clear perspective on the key elements that really control and develop the serve the right way. Please let me know if you have additional questions or I can assist in any way. Kindly, John
@maxpowers3732

@@PerformancePlusTennis Since you mentioned additional assistance could I send you a video of my serve for your thoughts on what I can do to improve? I took a video of it and I don't look at all the way I thought I would. It's better than before, but looks just of jerky and I think my tossing arm is too stiff.

Rod Laver used to say open your hand like a flower and your toss should be tossed up above the player’s head. I agree with you though Sir, I am 5’7 and a 10 foot toss, I could eat a apple have a sip of tea then hit the ball. Hahe just joking. Timing is everything my friend. Great job on this video my friend.
