Learn about complete vs incomplete sentences in this English grammar and writing lesson! I will teach you all about sentence fragments and how to correct them. There are three things you should look out for when determining if a sentence is complete. You must check for a subject and predicate and make sure the sentence is clear.
A sentence fragment is a piece of a sentence. It looks like a sentence but is missing something, like a subject, verb, or a main idea. You will learn how to find these fragments and how to fix them to make them complete sentences.
Examples of sentence fragments:
• Laughing loudly on the balcony. (This fragment is missing a subject.)
• The children in the park. (This fragment is missing a verb.)
• Although she wanted to come. (This is a dependent clause, which means the sentence cannot stand alone. It needs more information.)
At the end of this lesson, there will be a quiz where you must identify any sentence fragments.

Hi! there, I've done this quiz easily. 8/8 The name of the quiz makes me nervous. A good teacher is like a candle it consumes itself to light the way for others. Thanks

8/8 only because you're so good at what you do. When I taught bible study, the very first thing I would teach is this; ask yourself these questions, who's doing the talking, who are they talking to, and what are they talking about. Then turn them loose lol 👍

The class is remarkable and so is the teacher. I have a question: is it an independent clause: "He said."? Something tells me that it is not, yet I cannot find an answer on my own. It's tricky and puzzling mostly because we have both the subject and the verb. However, as for me, the sentence makes the reader confused. The question is "What did he say?", at least this question comes to my mind when I read it. Thank you so much for this video! Best regards from Ukraine! Eight out of eight!

I would like to ask you a question concerning the use of one particular definite article, "This." If it's okay with you, I'd be glad to return and post the sentence it's in so that you might be able to show me and others precisely what is in the context of which it is found this word "This" is referring to. It's really important to me and I will hope you will agree to look at this and reply. Many thanks.

Incomplete because you're missing the predicate (what the subject does). The reader needs more information.
