'Completely unreasonable': Family of mall shooting victim upset by suspect's release

Күн бұрынThe parents of 13-year-old Jayda Woods-Johnson, who was shot and killed Wednesday night at Alderwood mall, say they are 'disgusted' that the suspect in the shooting was allowed to post bail and be released from juvenile detention.
Jayda was at the mall when she was struck by a bullet that police allege was fired by a 16-year-old boy. An altercation broke out between two groups of people, but police said Jayda was not connected to either group.

Why is it even taking a week to file charges? How is he not booked on murder immediately? He was undoubtedly caught on surveillance cameras and there are hundreds of witnesses.

Plain & simple. "Black lives matter." It doesn't matter that his mom turned him in. The fact that he was released, and probably won't face any consequences, is because our current government allows it. Sorry, not sorry! Haters are going to hate, & I don't give a fu$k. If this is gang related, there is a video of both parties involved. All of them should face some consequence. An innocent girl who was so young was taken from her family & friends due to gang bangers who will never amount to anything other than stealing, rapping & murder. The absolute horror (other than the loss of this innocent girl) is the fact that all the individuals involved will be exonerated because of the color of their skin. Thanks to our current dumb ass political party. We're turning one another against each other. I believe in justice & equality for every race. However, if our current government is okay with the murder of an innocent child, then in my opinion, an eye for an eye is completely warranted. Sending blessings & healing prayers to the victims family. I would also like to send healing prayers to the mother of the shooter. She turned her son into the police. As a responsible parent, that must have been agonizing for her as well. RIP, beautiful girl. ❤🙏

Including the color of their skin. Please don't get me wrong. I'm Hispanic and have more family & friends that don't fall under the "Caucasian" category. However, I am sick & tired of hearing people of color are exonerated of a violent crime due to the color of their skin. Murder is Murder no matter the ethnicity. The shooter & the other gang bangers should be held accountable for the death of an innocent girl who didn't deserve this. RIP beautiful angel. This is beyond "unreasonable"; it really devalues the monumental loss of the victim to their family. Where I live, a few repeat ATM thieves were caught recently and their bail was $450K. This child's life was worth far more than $80K in cash....

Has the state shown that he has a proven history of this type of behavior? $50,000 cash on $500,000 is not any amount of money that most folks even see. Whomever posted up also has some assets as well, as no bonds agency logically cover this without holding something.

Our system of justice is founded on the presumption of innocence and bail is a Constitutional right. As long as we have this system. bail will continue to be an option. Most judges follow established guidelines and set bail conditions accordingly. Once they establish where he got the gun, more charges and arrests may follow. For instance, if he took dad's unsecured weapon. Justice may be slow because it takes time to build the case. I would guess they will first work to try him as an adult however he can not be sentenced to death at 16.

Do you not know how the justice system functions? An adult in the US is allowed to carry a firearm, and if need file for a concealed carry permit where they are carrying. Please do yourself a favor and use a library as it will have books that covers R.C.W.'s and Federal ones as well.

Thats what they do out here. My next door neighbor threw his wife down the stairs and the police didnt do anything then he pulled a knife on his own mom and they brought in the swat and had to break into his house, wife pressed charges and they let him go same day and they closed his case.

"Why would a kid want to kill?" Because kids are feral by nature without indoctrination and discipline. We were all once feral and had to be disciplined by our parents to behave properly. Humans, young and old, are capable of animal-like behavior unless they're controlled somehow. This is not new, but somehow our society has dumbed us down enough to not understand this. The world is still the wild, but it's the mass governance we see today that controls our base nature. At our lower nature, without discipline and indoctrination, we are animals.

Most of these violent crimes are committed by felons or those who will continue felonies if allowed to.
