The crowns in the life counter thing from NSMB2 happens in 3D Land too. Also, in Super Mario Bros Deluxe on the GBC, when you play Hard Mode, the dash in the level names is replaced with a star (eg World 1☆1)

10:22 FYI, you can't restore the stars' sparkle at all even if the Super Guide block just _appears_ in a stage. In fact, you can't do anything at all to get them back-even clearing those stages again normally.

I think my favorite completion challenge is 3D worlds not only do you unlock a new character with a unique ability, but it gives you a reason to replay the game trying out the different characters and THREE new worlds with new themes and challenges

In Super Mario 3D World, you CAN keep track of which character you already have beaten the level. I don't know exactly when, but it substitutes those little dots in the Level List at the pause menu with the symbol of each character you already used to clear the level. When you approach a level to enter it, it immediately shows which characters already have passed the level. And not only that, that green star that keeps spinning atop the flag pole symbol in each stage overworld turns to golden when you finish a level with all 5 characters.

Slight correction for Lost Levels. While you do need to beat the game without warps for World 9, the same doesn't apply to Worlds A-D. For these, you just need to beat the game eight times, with no warp restrictions.

When you unlock world crown you actually do get that indicator for which characters, just a minor correction

Completing Mario games is so satisfying! Also, as a kid, I didn't know you could keep the stars' twinkles on the save files in some modern games only if you don't use anything to assist you. So yeah, that happened to me before.

On top of unlocking the world crown which then allows you to see which characters you completed each levels with. Once you absolutely 100 percent everything, a minigame will appear for you to play from super Mario bros 3 on the file select screen if I recall that correctly

I remember playing super mario galaxy 2 and hoping that when you beat the game you get to use the powerups in the glass containers on the mario faceship

In Super Mario 3D World, the game will tell you what levels are left to complete with each character after you have collected all of the stamps, green stars, all gold flag poles, and you have reached the credits.

i've always hated the "improved triple jump" in sm64 after talking to yoshi because you can't wall kick with it

With the upgraded triple jump in sm64, you can't walljump out of a triple jump lol so its objectively worse

In super mario world 2 if you get 100 on every level in each world you'll unlock special levels and if you complete those with 100 points you'll get a star for each one on the title screen

The Galaxy completion reward is tedious but its diferent whit mario you get the photo whit peach and the lumas in the egg galaxy and whit luigi you have the photo whit rosalina and the toad brigade in the peach castle garden and when you see in the wii letters you feel done whit that message reward from nintendo and the 2 photos that for me are cute xd

Uhh technically Super Mario Galaxy is a 200% and there are actually 242 stars but just going for a normal 100% is 120 stars
