This video reviews the Xpedition Compound bow line for 2017 - Xplorer SS, Xcursion 6, Xcursion 7, Denali, Xception, and Perfection. Please note, my results at the end indicate 339 feet per second speed for the Xplorer SS, when it should have been rounded up to 340 fps. If you would like to learn how to tune an Xpedition bow, click the following link to my tuning video - • How to Tune Xpedition ...

Sean's Outdoor Adventures am actually surprised to here that. There was a time in early 2000s that Martin was among the top 5 best bows in terms of performance fit and finish and technology. They been around a very long time, and in around 2008 they suffered financially like so many companies. But they’ve held on and are still here. I can’t even imagine why they wouldn’t be looking for any opportunity to get their brand out there and be seen. I could try that. I could email them and tell them I was considering buying a Martin bow. And I’m not seeing a lot of reviews and especially not from the content creators that we know or believe in.

In the end, they dropped the ball and didn't follow through. It was the same thing the past two years. I reached out, they gave me a guys number to call, I called him and he asked how he could help. I then told him what I was looking to do and then he never responded after that... Oh well.

My thing is when you shoot a bow for an IBO and it's a 70# bow and you have it set to 65#'s and even though it's a lighter arrow it still doesn't give an truly accurate IBO rating because each and ever bow cycle is different. Just my cents. I do love the videos and keep them unbiased.

I know. Just was hoping to see this bow's real IBO. I'm buying one today. I'm just one of those speed chasers for the last 20 years. I hope the IBO is close to the manufacturers specs. It wsn't meant as an insult. My buddy has one and I shot it but his s at 60#. It's a really nice shooting and fast bow. @@seansoutdoors

Sean I'm loving these new bow reviews. In my opinion your doing the most honest and objective reviews out there. Yeah, the Prime and Elite reviews are coming, only, they only had the Primte Centergy where I tested them out, so I didn't get to shoot the Ion this year. Although, I can tell you that I liked the Elite over the prime overall, but, the Prime advantage is that they give you extra sets of strings and cables every two years, which in some cases is over a $100 value.

Thanks for the hard work to get us this info. I have been considering the xcursion 6. Guess I will have to wait and see how it compares to the defiant pro turbo and the bowtech reign6. the pse evolve looked pretty good as well. I am looking for a fast bow that is also enjoyable to shoot.
@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Brooke. Xcursion 6 is a sweet bow. Very smooth and very fast. It is easier to draw than the Reign 6 when the Reign 6 is on the performance setting, and the Xcursion 6 is close in speed. I'd put the Xcursion 6 and Reign 6 a notch above the Hoyt. The Hoyt turbo has a much rougher draw cycle than the Xcursion and the Hoyt is slower with a little more hand shock. That's my thoughts anyway. God bless you.

great reviews I notice that your speeds were slower could that be do to only shooting 65 lbs and not the max draw length.
@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 7 жыл бұрын
No, because I still shot at 5 grains per pound. I'm not sure what some manufacturers do to get the numbers they do, but very often they are inflated to what a regular bow will actually do. This seems to be somewhat common among manufacturers in order to compete from a marketing standpoint. That's why you need to verify their claims. Thanks for watching and God bless you.

Yeah, they are still so young that they just don't have much reach. I contacted them asking if they would help me review their bows and they didn't even respond. It is a shame when companies don't even respond to people when they contact them. Xpedition was the only company that went out of their way to help me review their bows. All the rest, Bear, New Breed, Obsession, APA, all of them didn't do anything. The only one of them that even responded to my attempted contact was Obsession but then they chose to not help me review their bows.

I guess it is the nature of my call that they just avoid me or ignore me. I call them up and leave messages and also send emails asking if they would work with me to include them in my compound bow review series I do every year, and like I said, the only response I have ever gotten was from Obsession. The woman who answered my call had passed my number on to some guy, he called me and I explained what I wanted to do and he said he would work with me and then would not answer any of my calls after that day and wouldn't respond to any of my emails. It was ridiculous, and the guy did the same thing to me two years in a row.

My Bowtech 360 has been an amazing bow for me, but I think its time to get a newer one. Its between the Xcursion 6 and Reign. Thank you for taking the time to do this for all of us. Will send you Facebook message to discus a way to donate to help with some funding.

Both are awesome bows. I just picked up the Denali, but I was totally torn if I should get the Xcersion 7 since I'm 31" draw. The Xcersion 7 was 2 fps faster than the Denali, but I went into it thinking I wanted to longest ATA bow I could get, so ended up just going with the Denali. If BowTech had offered me the same irresistable deal that Xpedition did, then I would have reallly been torn. However, if I was a shorter draw, I personally might have sided with the Reign simply because that cam shift technology is a notch above. I don't think you could go wrong with either bow, as they both are at the top of my list from the testing. Enjoy it and God bless.

Thanks for the reply Sean! I'm tall, 6'3" so I like a longer ATA also. I tried the Hoyt 34 Carbon Defiant and really shot it well, but would also like to try the Xpedition Denali and a couple of the Prime bows!

The Xcursion 6 doesn't come in my draw length. If it did then I definitely might have considered it. However, I shot my Denali through the Chronograph with a 5 grain per pound arrow and I am shooting 342 feet per second with my 31 inch draw.

Sean, i have come to enjoy your reviews. I just shot the Xpidition Xplorer SS at 60lb draw. i really liked shooting it. is there a benefit to get the 70lb or even order an 80lb draw over the 60? I am shooting a Martin Lynx and everything now is way better when comparing to that bow. how would you rate this bow to the hoyts, bow techs, Mathews and PSE's ?
@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 6 жыл бұрын
I actually like Xpedition the best out of the bows you asked about. It is the easiest bow to tune to perfection out of all the bows I have used. As far as benefit for heavier limbs, that comes into play when hunting because you typically want to use an arrow that weighs around 425 or 450 grains. A 60 pound bow will have more pin gap shooting a 450 grain arrow than will a 70 pound bow shooting the same weight arrow. However, you don't want to pull more weight than you can do so and hold the bow steady while at full draw.
@mikecrotts3943
@mikecrotts3943 6 жыл бұрын
I don't have an issue with pulling a 70lb bow, the let off on all new bows that I have drawn back is way less than the (approximate) 30lbs of my martin. That 60 lb is easy..... i could do 80.. but I am just wondering what the benefit was. A 70 should be just great. Really compared to that old martin everything is smooth and quiet and light...... thanks for the input!

It is odd though, many places I've read of other people's Xpeditions are usually getting speeds that actually exceed ibo or at the very least getting close to it. Oh well. Fantastic bow regardless. Ill have to chrono mine sometime and see. Thanks for the vids!
@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah. The Xpedition are really nice and smooth bows. They also are among the fastest, but their advertised numbers do seem overly inflated. This is common among some brands but other brands are closer to their projected speeds.

I don't know what to say to that. An Rep I talked to said he noticed that the speed tests he had done had also come in way low compared to what was advertised.

what you think about optimizer ultra sight by hh sports for deer hunting you think work
@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 7 жыл бұрын
I haven't used it, but it looks like a nice sight. The only drawback in some instances with a single pin sight is the possible hunting situation where you won't have a chance to move it to the exact distance in time to make your shot. Some people set it at about 25 yards and aim a little low if the deer is 20 or less yards, and slightly high if it is closer to 30 or 32 yards away. You will just have to think about those types of situations where that could happen.
