I'm 40. Just started investing 2 years ago. I wish I would have had access to a video like this when I was 18 :-( Good thing in my case is that I'm about 6 months off from being completely debt free. ($8000 left on my car) No kids. No longer married, no credit cards and only $800 a month total in bills including food and gas when my car is paid off. I will be investing much more than $100 a month. More like $5-800 a month. I've also got a side hustle of selling online going on as well that brings in a little extra cash. I should be fine especially as long as I stay debt free... It would have been great to know all this when I was young though. Everything in this video is very, very true. Subscribed.

The video was informative but I have no clue where to go, what to do, etc. I've done a little bit more research and one thing I know is DON'T go to a bank for compound interest. They'll offer you an extremely low percent so a bank wouldn't be a good choice. The other option I know about are stocks and dividends but yet that's a subject I've watched numerous videos on but still don't quite understand so why put and investment into it if I have no clue what i'm doing. as a physical therapist I can confidently say I have seen many, many 70 year olds who are in better shape than some 40-60 year olds. Life is what you make of it. (barring any unforeseen illnesses of course)

This is a bit misleading - specifically 10% interest per year. Even if you average 10% per year, it’s not the same as actually earning 10%. Yes, there are investment vehicles where you COULD average 10% (not a ton) but with that you also could participate in losses in down years, which is where your examples are thrown off. Let’s say, optimistically, that you earn 10% per year, but every 5th year the market drops and you lose 10%. I’m sure there’s a formula for this somewhere but I don’t know it. I do know, however, that it will drastically affect your outcome compared to what you’re pitching. I’m not arguing that it’s smart to invest early. Obviously it is. I’m just saying that this is misleading at best.

I think this video is just to get the majority of his / new viewers to understand the concept of compound interest. If you go in-depth yes there's many variables, but if you just overload people with information they'll just switch off and watch another video.

As an investor, you're forgetting one major component here... The same time you took to grow this slow-yield investment (that has no guarentees; see 2008), is the same amount of time it takes for inflation to make your million dollar retirement feel like 150k So by the time you retire, you'll have juuuust enough money to buy a house, if you haven't already paid off your current house... If you were smart and bought a house when you were 25-30 and paid it off in 15 years, you'd be able to damn near retire 5 years later. My point, invest in property all you can and not a 401k that produces inflation-matching interest....

And YOU'RE missing that for instance an employer match is essentially your interest PLUS whatever the regular interest is per year. That can be 25-30% per year. I AM with real estate investing though.

@@rogerwilliams4742 oh my bad, didn't realize you were depending un two unlikely situations coming together in harmony. Most employers don't match anymore, and average return on investment portfolios is like 6%-10%

@@cameroncook975 I've been wondering about my 401k.. So are you saying if one pays off a house rather than invest in a 401k, once the house is paid off you'd rent it out for the rest of your life and then you'd buy a second house and pay the mortgage on that one? I'm trying to understand but am a bit confused. I guess i'm just wondering how one would be able to retire 5 years after paying off a house if you had no 401k?

I understand all of this, but isn't 10% interest a bit high? Also what about a stock market crash? That could destroy this plan. Please correct me if I'm wrong but those are my concerns.

Hi there I'm 15, and was wondering which thing would make me more money. I have $700 to invest. I was wondering which thing would make me more money. Investing in a company that pays 3% dividend quarterly, or investing in a mutual or index fund? Wouldn't the dividend option be better???? I was also wondering how you would invest your dividend payout, like should you buy more of the same stock? Oh and what type of fund should I invest in to get compound interest. Thx
