Saturday evening I get a call about a walk in cooler that stopped working mid day but needs service tonight. I find several issues and do what I had to do... Inefficient compressors waste energy and this is one of them. Leaking valves is a real condition that effects many compressors, for just $19.99 a month I'll send you a picture of a compressor in need 😉. JK But I'll take a like and subscription instead!

Respect to bossman Rick : late night call , middle of nowhere, gas station ( vulnerable to pretty much anything) , they couldn't even be asked to stay whilst he's fixing THEIR junk equipment, and he only bloody goes and opens up the flippin compressor ! I mean that's some dedication right there man , hat's off mate 👍 👏 👌

The audacity: they have issues with it since early afternoon, they call you out at near 8PM and it's only cooling non-perishable cans of drinks. Surely it could have waited until the next day. Bloody hate these kind of customers.

SILLY Rick ... That fan was operating that way as part of the new AWEF Efficiency stuff things. It switches direction each time so that the coil can become equally impacted with dirt on both sides, and so that it can take turns blasting hot air into the side of the building to aid the buildings heating system efficiency! You screwed it all up now!! It's no longer 2023 AWEF compliant! Lol great video.

hahaha "capacitor guts" you are funny. They couldn't face the fan to the side or install it a bit further away from the wall. No, they just installed it as close to the wall as possible. Heat rejection? no, that does not matter at all. When you ask your audience if they want to learn more about compressor diagnostics, the text below is totally blurred. Thank you for this video.

Rod bearings are shot. This is either from liquid slugging, oil entrapment, or both. That compressor is a boat anchor. I had a 3 HP Coplemetic throw a rod, due to poor oil return. I couldn't get replacement parts, so I had to order a new compressor. I will never forget walking into the local refrigeration parts store with a piece of metal. I showed it to the guy behind the counter and asked if he could get me one of these. He asked: "what is that?" Then, a fellow tech behind me in line said "it's a connecting rod". Those were the days. But the nice thing about those Coplemetics is that sometimes they CAN be serviced in the field. They seldom die unless they are installed in a poorly designed system, or the system is abused.

Thank god I am in a factory now. When I ran service I had a job that never ended it started when their transformer blew on the outside pole. Outside condenser had fried components and a bad fan motor, it was like 10 degrees outside snowing like a mofo. Had to use the bumper of my van so the ladder would not slide out. Then go inside and the defrost timer is fried . I go why why why me! I get that sorted out and the owner is like what about the heat? I take a look and the blower motor is burned up one of the phases at the transformer was flipped flopped I did not realize that until I put the new motor in and fired the unit up and it took off backwards and burned up causing smoke to fill the business. So I got another motor flipped a leg around on the contactor and was good to go. However now I need to fire up the air to make sure the compressor's are running right. I called my boss and said everything is fixed and I am taking tomorrow off.

Oh yes this brings back memories. I remember working on a roof of a gas station on a similar hunk of feculence in the middle of winter around -20℃/ -4℉. Due to the strong winds and the condenser not being against a wall the head pressure plummeted like Biden of the air force one. I took the carpet from the staff breakroom and wraped it up like a chrismas present and it ran like that for a week until i had a piece of sheet metal fabricated to hinder the wind blowing through the condenser.

Are you sure that's gunk on the sight glass? It looks like yellowed plastic, to me, from heat and "outdoor" exposure. This reminds me of a lot of late nights cleaning up leftovers in ceilings. I did some the other night - wires ripped out of the walls and just dumped into the ceiling, others that were in the walls but went nowhere.... I had to trace virtually all of them just to find the ones I need to fix, and add some new ones to make the doctor's office work properly. I'm sure you run into it a lot. "If the equipment isn't in service anymore, TAKE IT OUT!"
@HVACRSurvival

It could be from the sun? I see it in different neglected systems but glass usually will clean up. Not worth replacing if they were considering replacing the whole system.
@tbelding
@tbelding 2 жыл бұрын
@@HVACRSurvival I'm in the "Deep South" (Houston), so I see tons of yellowed plastic. It doesn't have to be in direct sunlight - from what I could tell of the enclosure, the entire front is exposed to the outside directly. It's just a 'shade' over the top, not a defense against the weather. That means UV will reach it, heat, cold, etc, etc. I guess it depends on if it's glass or plastic. I've never tried to break one to find out. You'd know more, not better, but at all, than I.
