Trying these 4 pedals with acoustic guitar. Here are the time stamps if you want to skip through segments.

I use Yellow Comp from Mooer. It is like a butter man. Good with acoustic guitar in live gigs. But I still look for new gear man. And finding nee sounds. ;) Nice video.

It definitely makes a a difference although I think LR baggs has them all beat with the sessions pedal. Along with the voiceprint Ive got a great sound

Hey sir thank you for your advisements today with pedal compressors on an acoustic I’d definitely keep rolling with boss cs-3 I’m enjoying it. Is like putting hot towel pads to compress guitars to improve tones. Might not be worth it. I loved it.

have you tried a jangle box with a 6 string acoustic or a 12 string acoustic? BTW your playing is outstanding

The white custom comp has a pair of mini pots inside. One for attack and one for pre comp low cut called "trim" i found with them dialled in you had to push the main knobs much more which you seemed to do here. It has its place but is a flavour that doesnt suit everyone. Good call on the cs3. First I ever had and much misunderstood. Great vid and great playing!

I've been searching for good acoustic preamp pedals to clean up my tone and what I noticed is some are mostly compression like the Bodyrez by TC and even the Boss AD-2. I connect directly to the PA through a DI. I watch the stream on Facebook and KZfaq later and its not a good sound. I listen through an Aviom with headphones while I'm playing but the sound coming through it is not good at all. I don't think they were designed to do anything but be a monitor so I can't adjust anything while I'm playing. Watching this I'm just going to use my compression pedal and save some money.

Does the CS3 makes parasite noise when not played ? I own a very old an destroyed one whice is cool buit which is very noise and I do not convince myself to buy a new one yet due this noise problem.

Depends. Anything with more distortion than a Tube Screamer or vintage Plexi is a no. You almost never want to add compression to heavy distortion since distortion already compresses your playing AND compression amplifies your noise. Compression plays better with clean and dirty tones, not super high gain (only exception is if all you do is super intricate lead and solos). Boosting a Marshall for old-school/thrash tones: yes and it would sound awesome. To boost a high-gain monster like a 5150 or Mesa Dual, you technically could but a completely clean boost brings up your low end too, making it closer to fuzz if you do too much. Better to use an overdrive pedal which already add a very slight compression (industry standards are MaxonOD808/OD9, Ibanez TS-9, Boss SD-1, Horizon Precision Drive), or TC Integrated Preamp-style clean boost with a fixed bass cut or bass and treble controls (Pepers Dirty Tree, Fortin 33 or Grind, Protone Preamp, Airis TS Pre, Lichtlaerm Aesahaettr or Amber Spyglass, any EQ pedal, etc.).

@@nomandad2000 because to our brains louder = better, so you need to set unity volume to make a fair comparison between clean and compressed signal. Good practice to do anyway.

It's a normal video, it's just that the MXR's are tuned for the electric guitar frequency range, they're in the middle and not suitable for soft acoustic guitar and classical guitar, as well as for vocals. The boss cuts hard, so it's also impossible. Try Keely C4 very clear compressor, what you need for acoustics, I compared it with MHR, it is not suitable for electric guitar, but it is ideal for acoustics and vocal

Yeah, liked the super comp best out of those myself. Seemed to colour the sound less and give a nice natural feeling compression. Got me a Wampler Ego the other day and loving it.
