In this test there was a mention of date of birth so I wrote in the same format. But it doesn't matter if you write '10th' or '10' because both are considered correct.

The most important thing to note is the allowable word limit in the question statement. E.g. if you are allowed to write only 'one word and/or a number' then you need to write it as '10 September' which is a combination of a word and a number. If the allowed limit is above one word and/or a number then you can choose to write between '10 September' or '10th September'.

It will be considered correct.
