I had the blessing to be able to call him my friend. He saved my other friends life, he would come to town and hang out after that event. Great man And if you think him jumping into that pool was a bit I can assure i saw it happen just like that. He would always get the kids (me) reved up

@@Noone-jn3jp I can picture that. How did he save your other friends life? He was indeed gifted as well as brave. I remember reading about him during my childhood on animal magazines and I thought that man was crazy to do all that he did but later realized that he was just THAT good.

Steve was a moron, not a legend. Legends in the field of the animal kingdom are people like David Attenborough. People who aren't so stupid as to treat dangerous animals with contempt. Steve certainly knew how to talk and he sure lived a life of delusion but reality didn't care what he thought or about his contemptuous attitude, because reality won out in the end
@roygboy77
@roygboy77 Жыл бұрын
@@jamessmyth5949 I respect your believe but this is no way to talk. Keep your perspectives to yourself and don't force it upon me. I saw what i saw and I've seen many of Steve Irwin's documents. David Attenborough is great too but different style. Steve grew up in Australia and animals there are much more wild than in UK so their core believe are completely different. I assume you are an animal activist and a vegan.

Growing up in Australia, I absolutely idolised Steve as a kid. I wished to be him more than anyone in the world. I still remember when he died, and everyone at school was talking crazy about it. I was 8 years old then and I refused to believe it was actually true. I still watch his old documentaries for nostalgia, what a beautiful man he was.

@silverXnoise
@silverXnoise 11 ай бұрын
@@TheHutchIsOn I was admittedly being hyperbolic, but also…I think you’ll find that (in America anyway) Fox News was one of the most watched networks for much of the last two decades, taking the #1 position overall in 2019. Even comedies and late night shows drifted towards a more sarcastic and judgmental tone with The Daily Show and its progenies. Looking at other media, we experienced several years where the most popular movies were disaster films and dark, gritty re-imaginings of comic book characters. In music, the glam rock and hair metal of the 1970s-1980s gave way to bleak Seattle grunge and nu-metal in the mid-90s through the late ‘00s. I’m not saying there was a complete vacuum of more hopeful content, but there was absolutely a marked surge in less-than-optimistic programming that I think partially influences, and reflects, the collective psyche of society. The _Global Trends Report_ released in 2021 by the US National Intelligence Council stated: “Public opinion polls repeatedly have shown increasing pessimism about the future in countries of all types around the world, but especially in advanced and middle-income economies. According to the 2020 Edelman Trust Barometer, the majority of respondents in 15 of 28 countries polled are pessimistic that they and their families will be better off in five years, an average increase of 5 percent from the previous year. Less than a quarter of those polled in France, Germany, and Japan, for example, believe they will be better off in 2025. In coming years, this pessimism is likely to spread in developing countries with large youthful populations but with slowing progress in eradicating poverty and meeting human development needs, particularly Sub-Saharan Africa.” According to an archived 1989 Washington Post article ( _Cynical? Who’s Cynical?_ by Don Oldenburg) Americans confidence in political and business institutions dropped precipitously starting in the 1950s, to the extent that researchers studying the trends in the 1980’s reported to be “tormented by their conclusions,” with the article stating they believe that, “…the comely brand of cynicism that has been called ‘intellectual dandyism’ is shifting to a darker and more sinister level of mistrust that has been called ‘intellectual treason.’” It goes on to say: { Combing through their survey data, the two researchers uncovered so much evidence of misanthropy as to send them back to their statistics fully expecting to find a miscalculation. There was no mistake. Beyond statistics, they found flesh-and-blood verification: employees who don't trust their bosses, store clerks who have contempt for customers, voters too disillusioned to vote, college students out to get theirs however they can, entrepreneurs doing unto others before others do unto them, ordinary people who despise other ordinary people. To put it simply, in the United States, at the close of the 1980s, Machiavelli lives. Numbers are telling of the fall of confidence. A survey in the late '50s disclosed more than 80 percent of Americans trusted the government. By the mid-'70s, that figure had dropped to about 33 percent. Barely one in four dare admit today to being so gullible. Last November, during the presidential election, the American Association of Retired Persons felt cynicism among older voters had become so serious a problem that the national group spent $400,000 on advertisements to combat the epidemic. Similar signs show up in the business sector. Twenty years ago, public trust in business and its leaders tallied about 70 percent in polls. Hard to believe? Today, only 15 percent say they trust business. } I won’t get into reasons, which are diverse and largely dependent on demographics, but I think I have sufficiently backed up my original admittedly flippant remark with enough substance to refute the notion that I am being “ridiculous”. P.S.-I apologize for the essay, I studied Media Theory in college and, 15-years later as an IT consultant, I relish any opportunity to utilize an otherwise impractical education.
