I assume she meant. Letting friends who are interested in her or vice versa can start from there instead of contacting them through SMS personally & finding out if they like each other or not. That way they don't have to go thru rejection i suppose since they already choose you in the app & if it doesn't work out it feels less awkward.😅

@@anastasiabeaverhauseninc2830 Soft stalking. I get it. I also keep hoping someone I know shows up in one of the dating apps, so if I'm into her I can like her profile and wait for the match. If it never comes - good, she's not into me. Same for women who know me who might be interested in me - if they see me in the apps and like me but I don't like them back, then they'll know I'm not interested, and it will save me the awkwardness of dealing with flirting and rejection live, when we next see each other in real life. It's pretty useful. These apps do make our lives better. I did end up matching with my cousin's former wife some weeks ago, and at first I was mortified when she made me aware of it because I didn't recognise her when I liked her profile (I was probably very drunk), but we ended up laughing about the whole thing. And no - we haven't dated yet, and probably won't, ever. I sobered up the day after.

When I'm hanging with my (male) chums, I love recounting my 5 worst, "first dates". These are ancient tales from when I was dating in the 1980s, and back then we met eligible women via a newspaper's classified adds. Followed by a phone call and a meet up, at where-ever seemed safe. Usually at coffee house, or cheap diner. It was useful to craft a humorous written message, in your advertisement.

I’m perfect for Avril. I own several guitars (rarely play them), I laugh at 90% of my own jokes, I have a big floppy mop as a hair do and I too use dating apps incorrectly 😂 Sea swimming here is called “going to the beach”. In the northeastern USA, where identity is closely tied to which immigrant community one came from, he is "Irish" or "Irish-American." In the sense of national identity, he is American, not Irish. It depends on the context.

He has no family in Ireland that he goes to visit and has no real connection to the culture. Not to mention, he does the typical Leprechaun-Irish accent that most Americans do. It would be better if he said “Irish-American”, but he doesn’t. The only person who sees Conan as Irish, is Conan😅

It really breaks the ice when you match with someone you know in real life. Basically it’s like ok you have seen my outside my profile and accepted my like/made the first like. This could work. On the other hand you can like them but they can reject you indirectly so it’s much lower pressure and you can then just pretend it never happened when you see each other again

All I can say is I love sea swimming and I am musical. Some people find me funny. Here in Brazil, people who end up on mandatory drug abuse rehabilitation centres for small crimes manufacture things from recycled material like garbage bags and coffee cloth filters, also they run the city's streets collecting used frying oil from people's homes for recycling (to make soap) and they're sold in many of the city's supermarkets, usually at much lower prices than their big brand counterparts. I'm all for it, and usually buy the stuff they make when I can. Specially because often the crime they've committed is the very stupid crime of small-time drug dealing, which shouldn't even be a crime in the first place. Also, wasn't it Conan who did a remote on a Chicago prison, where an Italian chef taught inmates how to make actually good pizza (not that Chicago deep dish nonsense), and they have a restaurant which is very popular? Maybe it was The Daily Show, I'm not sure. If it was Conan, he wouldn't be surprised about bakeries in prisons.

I've run into a similar generic person on dating apps here in Australia, only the female version. Typically their butt is their main redeeming feature followed by several versions of the same picture by the beach, in the gym, out for dinner, often with their friend's faces crassly cropped out by an emoji like they are a serial killer. But not of Alex Winter. Usually there's also a pet pic with an animal that often looks like it being held against it's will. -I don't trust people who describe themselves as funny without some type of self-effacing caveat. But I sort of am. I guess. -Former Musician/Session musician/failed writer/creative. -Have hair- despite quite a stressful last few years. Avril seems like good craic, but I am also fine alone.

@yvjohns perhaps im just projecting, but as someone who is also bi, i noticed she didnt specify gender at first and then it was only until conan said "guys" that she started leaning into it. I could be wrong, but Ive been in those situations before where I teeter on coming out but then get nervous at the last minute and just go along with the story.
