In the middle of a shingles bout right now (fortunately not in the eye) but still very painful and really tiring but Conan always makes me giggle which is rather sore at the mo but I'm still grateful.

I took the shingles vaccine after someone I know got it. The pain he experienced was the worst he ever experienced.

I worked an overnight job for four years which resulted in me getting shingles in my left ear and Bell's palsy on my left side of my face. I was 27 at the time and it was the worst pain I had ever felt in my life up to that point. Still to this day I get a tingling on the left side of my face occasionally. I can't imagine what it would be like to get it behind your eye.

I had shingles about 10 years ago, across my chest. I thought I had burned myself because I fell asleep with my laptop on my chest. The redness and swelling and pain was like a burn. I went to the hospital to get it looked at, and until then, "shingles" was only a word to me; I didn't know that it was a re-emergent chickenpox virus, or what the symptoms would be. In the days afterward, the "burn" wrapped around my ribcage to my back. I had burn-like scars for a couple of years afterward. I'm gonna get the vaccine when it's time.

Dude he had shingles in his eye... That's not a small thing. If he was complaining about mild tinnitus and anxiety it would be different. Eyes are sacred.
