Conan the Barbarian is a 1982 film by director John Milius and is recognized as the acting breakthrough of bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger. It is loosely based on the Conan the Barbarian stories by Robert E. Howard and was written by Oliver Stone and John Milius.
Basil Poledouris' score for the film has to be one of, if not, the greatest score ever composed in the 80's.
Conan is based on the work of Robert E. Howard.
The movie was shot in Almería, Andalucía, Spain.

the good old days of motion film making, when movie sets composed of actual geographical areas, not filmed in front of a blue screen to be later edited by a computer

this movie is a huge part of my childhood! it even inspired me to be a musician. .I think it was ahead of its time,a masterpiece. and the soundtrack is the greatest! genius.

This one of my absolute favorite movies growing up. Always wanted to run free over the land & fields like Conan and Subotai. This was a great video, thanks for bringing back a lot of fine memories.

Spain is the land of Conan!! Some researchers say that the ancient Atlantis was actually located in "Doñana" too. The most amazing landscapes, (forests, beaches, deserts, mountains) ara in Spain, the land of contrasts.

The video is somehow so sad. A perfect example how time keeps going and everything you see, wherever you were, change over the years. Yet you still can remember what happened in these places. Anyway, long live the music of Basil Poledouris, the greatest composer ever. And Conan... Conan simply rules!

Thankyou Herve! Muchas gracias. What fond memories I have of this film. I would run with my close buddy through some local open fields like Conan and Subotai to share the same sense of adventure and comraderie. We would share wine and wom......but that is another story best left untold. ;)

Great job! But the creators of this video forget the first sequence of the movie (Conan as a child). This sequences was shooted in Sierra of Navacerrada (or Guadarrama, i don´t remember) between Madrid and Segovia.

This movie has always been my favorite. I remember going to the drive in as a kid and seeing it. Made me ambitious as hell. Still live by the opening quote to this day. Definitely got me out of my rustbelt hometown.

What a beautiful piece of art. The music overlaying what must have been countless hours of research and travel to locate not only the locations, but to masterfully overlay them against the movie. Conan lived in Cimmeria, 12.000 years ago, "before the oceans drank Atlantis". Cimmeria was next to the Pictish Wilderness on one side, and Asgard and Vanaheim on the other side. Except that he never exsisted, and neither did Cimmeria, the Pictish Wilderness, Asgard or Vanaheim. The oceans didn't drink Atlantis, because there was no Atlantis. 12.000 years ago, Europe was covered in Ice! It's all Fantasy. However, the MOVIE Conan the Barbarian was shot in Spain, on the locations shown here.

i loved the video , nice work. back in the day when they had to construct huge moviesets those were the best movies. building those sets was a form of art . now its all greenscreen.

It's really powerful when you think of these real places, and think of them as actual places of actual conan events something like 8,000 years ago...quite spiritual. And it is true, Conan the Barbarian helped inspire me to get big now I'm 6' 206lb all muscle.

I saw Conan the Barbarian when it was originally in the theater. I also have the Soundtrack on CD, and the music is beautiful. I really like the first 2 songs on the CD the best.

Nice little video. Saw film in theaters, my first (I was 4) Continues to be my favorite film, largely due to the score, which I listen often. Without the score the film would be...well, Red Sonja, but a little better.

I love visiting film locations too, whenever I can. I've been to Astoria, Oregon and have seen most of the spots from The Goonies. I've also been to some of the spots from the original Star Wars in Death Valley, where parts of Tatooine were filmed, and the redwood forest where the Ewoks lived in ROTJ.
