Here are three extremely common errors that we don't see getting talked about enough. Comment your questions below!

The feet out is great advice. Often I do full row sessions without feet strapped in. If you use good technique all energy will go into the machine and your feet won’t even move from their position at all

OMG! This was a fabulous set of tutorials! I've owned my Concept 2 for a couple of years & have been rowing away happily... getting no apparent benefit. Ms. Nieman's tutorials now have me on the right track.

Unfortunately I won’t get my concept 2 for about 6 weeks, however this is my first time using a rower or owning one....Love the training and will continue to watch till I get mine. I have been practicing your techniques on my floor to see if I can learn movements. I know it is not like being on a machine but I want to be some what ready. Really love your training videos.

Great video, I'll keep these points in mind next time on the rower. It's just one thing - pulling yourself back up gets your hamstrings more that quads.

Been using an erg since I bought my model Avin ‘85…and found your body hinge tip interesting/useful. So apparently you can teach an old dog a new trick.

Hi Cassie, thanks for your videos. If I’m getting some pain in the glutes is lack of proper leg engagement this issue?

Failing to fix the feet firmly with the foot straps is very common with beginners. Results in pain in the anterior shin

I really like your rowing guides. I've been swimming quite a long time, I improved my rowing style. But it's still hard for me to get a good result? Could it be a problem with the machine itself, chain too loose, etc. I'm starting to slowly lose motivation. All the best from Poland.

I don't understand why I shouldn't pull myself back up if I'm just doing an all out 2k (no rest at the end of the pull stroke). Would it not help increase my strokes per minute? And I'm not concerned with being as efficient in a 7-8 min max effort. More to max out my output.

I cant do the body swing because of lower back problems. When i try to add the swing my lower back is in massive pain the next day. I still feel like i get a great workout though.

So going forward without pulling my toes or feet is no problem. But the moment I stretch my legs I get a shock like something move forward and then suddenly the rope ends and SNOCK you get a little shock and move backwards a bit. That happens to my legs as well. Even when I go real slow, its weird. Also when I row without my feet in the straps its impossible to go backwards, my feet just scoot up the moment I want to lean back.

I don't get point 2 -- are you saying by recovering more smoothly the flywheel will continue to spin more rapidly? That doesn't make sense to me. I don't pause at the finish either but I don't see how that relates to flywheel speed.
@RVAPerformanceTraining
@RVAPerformanceTraining 3 жыл бұрын
When you pause too long at the back of the stroke, the flywheel will quickly slow down. At that point, it'll take extra effort on the drive phase of the next stroke to get it moving again. The idea is to keep the flywheel moving by not pausing too long!
@triplecap4307
@triplecap4307 3 жыл бұрын
I was going to let his go but just couldn't. Why does pausing at your finish slow down the fly wheel more than a slow recovery to the catch? In either case the recovery time is the same and the flywheel will slow the same. Think about it and don't assume I don't know what I am doing on the rower. PS. The ONLY reason not to pause at the finish is that if you don't do that you get your forward lean going faster and better. It has nothing to do with flywheel speed if you keep the same stroke rate.

Surely not pulling yourself back with your feet will slow you down? What are the point of the straps if not to allow you to pull yourself back?
