That’s what I just said. I had hopes for the guy 3 years ago. Not so much now. I’m surprised we haven’t traded him to be honest. Probably that he’s not worth anything on the trading block either. The man hasn’t produced anything in any games At all.

Usually, I follow your takes, but I don't agree with you on Thomas. When Thomas was drafted, it was for him to take over from Olsen. He was a good pass catching TE coming out of college. Hopefully, Sanders passes Thomas, but Sanders is raw. Plus, we are also trying to get Young inline. If the veteran is standing out, I'm ok with that .

Guys don’t always preform at their maximum capacity if they are in the wrong system. ex. Miles Sanders went from a pro bowl to almost being cut mid-season last year. This system might gel with Ian Thomas and allow him to shine. We don’t have the luxury of a ramp up period with new guys by throwing them into the fire to let them figure it out. Dave knows he has to put the best available player on display because if they don’t get some level of success out the gate all the momentum from his positivity will vanish quicker than other head coaches because he doesn’t have the proven resume yet to back it up.

I get the journalism behind this statement. Using the source material and finding a way to look at it adversely, however how about trying to find a way to understand the point of view of why they said he’s surprising people at camp. Ian Thomas ?? Im honestly amazed we didn’t trade him. We have been paying the man a salary and he hasn’t produced SH** in any games. I mean zilch. I had high hopes for him 3 years ago. No so much anymore. I hope I’m wrong though. 💯 🙏. If we are going to keep the man and pay him. He needs to produce.

All this means is Thomas is above Sullivan on the depth chart. I don’t like it but I can see how Thomas is 1 of 2 TE’s that can block. It’s not the end of the world. However I hope Sullivan earns that last spot.

You played QB and don't understand that reps are hit or miss in the small time frame they have. Defense could have blown a coverage on his rep. Defense may have won on Sanders rep. Its all too relative and too many variables for this poor take

Well, give all the stats. 5 catches aint bad if he was thrown to maybe 12x. To that note when have the panthers featured a TE since Olsen. This team force feeds wr's oh and how about we try throwing to a TE 4 or 5 times a game. So yeah his stats suck.

Ian Thomas is the biggest, fastest, and strongest TE on the roster. With decent coaching and a scheme that gets him some easy catches he should be the guy standing out.
