L'AROSS est heureuse de vous retrouver pour le prochain concert de la saison, le dimanche 16 octobre 2022, 16h, avec Alma Bettencourt, Mélodie Michel, Alexis Grizard, Axel de Marnhac, Nicola Procaccini et David Tabacaru, étudiants de la classe d'orgue du Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris pour un concert-hommage à César Franck (1822-1890). Extraits des Trois Pièces, des Six Pièces et Premier Choral.
En partenariat avec le Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris (Stéphane Pallez, présidente, Émilie Delorme, directrice). www.conservatoiredeparis.fr.

Chers amateurs du grand orgue de l'église Saint-Sulpice, aujourd'hui le lundi 31 octobre,est le 80e anniversaire de Daniel Roth,un grand organiste titulaire aux grandes orgues de Saint-Sulpice depuis 1985 en succédant Jean-Jacques Grunenwald(1973-1982). Chers Daniel je vous souhaite un grand et joyeux anniversaire.

Très belle après-midi, César Franck servi à merveille par des interprètes de très grand talent - petite préférence personnelle pour la Pastorale op19, liée à des souvenirs familiaux ... Oserai-je ajouter que Madame Choplin m'a fait le grand honneur de me convier à la tribune pour l'office dominical de 18h30, ce dont je lui garde une profonde reconnaissance, merci de le lui transmettre à nouveau ... Merci et à bientôt

Had the great privilege of being present in the Saint-Sulpice today to hear this wonderful concert. What an incredible organ and what great performances by these very talented young organists. A fitting tribute to the genius that is César Franck. Thanks to everyone involved!

Quelle magnifique et généreuse idée de donner ainsi à des étudiants très prometteurs l'accès à cet instrument somptueux qui est par une chance absolument miraculeuse resté dans l'état d'origine! Approcher cet orgue et l'entendre est déjà une leçon, mais LE JOUER c'est inoubliable. Nous l'avions visité plusieurs fois avec ma classe d'orgue de Lausanne mais là, avec l'expérience du concert en plus c'est juste un souvenir qui restera gravé pour eux toute leur vie!

je me demande depuis quelques décennies si ce magnifique instrument était tellement défiguré si on avait gardé la partie instrumentale voire la console, évidemment, mais on avait intégré la technique et l’électronique de nos jours avec enregistreur et séquenceur. Je trouve dommage que l’orgue ne soit vraiment pleinement jouable qu’avec au moins deux aides registrants. Ou alors qu’il faut connaître l’instrument très bien, et encore. En général, comme tous les grands Cavaille Coll les changements de couleurs et les crescendos ne marchent que par paliers, par groupes, on le remarque aussi très bien lors des impros lorsque les registrants ajoutent ou ôtent toujours des grappes de jeux. Evidemment avec les appels aux pieds cela fonctionne pareil. Moi je préfère les orgues où on peut jouer de chaque couleur, chaque registre. Un programmateur-séquenceur serait alors la bienvenue. En ce sens j’adore St Eustache voire dans la gamme Cavaillé, Ste Clothilde . Je pense qu’on aurait pu le faire sans dénaturer l’instrumen

@@jeanzahlen2369heureusement que l'instrument est classé cela évitera d'ajouter combinateur et compagnie, l'orgue est très bien comme il est et il y a assez d'orgue en France avec tous les artifices que vous citez. Il y y également assez d'orgues cavaillé-coll massacrés pas besoin de toucher à celui de Saint Sulpice.

Malheureusement trop d'instruments cavaillé-coll sont sacralisés au point qu'il est quasiment impossible pour les organistes de passages de pouvoir découvrir ce patrimoine, sauf évidemment si vous êtes amis de ou pistonné par..... ( triste).

Bravo, bravissimo à tous ces jeunes talents, avec évidemment une mention particulière pour Alma Bettencourt, déjà impressionnante de maturité et d'aisance. J'en profite pour remercier également de son accueil Madame Sophie -Véronique Choplin qui m'a permis d'assister en tribune à la messe du dimanche soir... Variations à deux orgues sur un air de passacaille, God save the Queen, le Mépris de Godard, quel régal... Quand la gentillesse rejoint la classe, sur les pas de Franck, Widor, Dupré ! Inoubliable !

Thanks for including Final - in my humble opinion, one of the most underplayed and underrated pieces in all of the organ lit. I've only heard Mr. Dubois and Mr. Weaver play it. She did it justice, just wonderful! :) Franck was/is the greatest and I'm American. Love to the French.

I am delighted and so pleased by this concert. Nicola’s playing of the Premier Chorale was organic in his reading and truly moving. My only criticism is a lack of legato in some places. Nonetheless I kiss you Nicola for your excellence! Alexis was impeccable in his reading of the Fantaisie. Please take more time with the phrasing. This music is profound, do not rush. Don’t try to be magisterial when Franck means to touch the human heart instead. More legato please. David, your reading of the Cantabile was perfect. Thanks for your sense of legato (yes I know, recurrent theme in my comments) but I truly felt the spirit of Franck in your performance of this piece. Axel, your performance of the Grand Pièce Symponique was everything I hoped it would be. Truly brilliant! Every note and phrasing expressed Franck perfectly. You are awesome! Mélodie, I loved the Pastorale! Your phrasing was never rushed, always sensitive to Franck in spirit. Your musical intelligence here is admirable and treasured. Alma, what a brilliant Finale! You got this! In conception and performance, I could have not asked for better than your reading of this piece. Wow! Perhaps the best was saved for last 😊 The future of French organists is in these young peoples’ hands (and feet!) I am grateful for them. Merci mes amis mille fois de la fond de ma cœur. ❤

Mille mercis pour cette captation ! Je n'étais malheureusement (et exceptionnellement) pas en région parisienne ce week-end, et je ne pensais pas pouvoir profiter de ce concert. Merci également pour les explications sur cet instrument exceptionnel : c'était passionnant, quoique un peu trop court à mon goût. Peut-être pour une prochaine vidéo ?

Absolutely top-notch performances despite the condition of the instrument (i.e.reeds sometimes not speaking on Fsharp of the great octave in the pedaldivision in Pièce Héroique), it's time Denis L. pays a visit to the instrument to do some trouble-shooting...

I love you Alma! I never really liked the "Final" as for me, it always had the reputation of a mere showpiece ... However with your interpretation, you prove that there is really great music in it ... I salute you!

Your interpretation of Franck is technically perfect, but not musical, you play like a robot, Franck is emotion, poetic and improvisation driven. I find nothing of that in your playing. In my opninion you have to work on this.
