The bell tower of the Verona cathedral is one of the most famous in Italy, as there is still a team of twenty bell ringers who regularly ring the bells during festive occasions. The enormous tower was rebuilt after the disastrous earthquake of the 12th century, which had destroyed almost all the buildings in the city. The base of the tower measures more than eleven metres on each side, with a masonry thickness of three metres. The octagonal belfry was completed 1925, making the structure 75 metres high.

The new concert of nine bells in A major was built in 1931, with the precious big bell recast in 1934 due to a factory defect. The largest bell cracked again and was remade in 2003, weighing 4566 kg bronze. The bells have strings and are regularly rung by the men and women of the town. In 2014, a tenth bell was added, cast by Grassmayr of Innsbruck, bringing the concert to eleven bells in 2020, with a total weight of 145 quintals. The tower also houses a museum of many old bells, one of which dates back to 1384.

In the 4th century, many churches were built in Verona, including two cathedrals next to each other and almost twins. The second cathedral was demolished and rebuilt in the early 9th century, becoming the city's main building, where important bishops began to be buried. The beautiful building collapsed like all the other buildings following the largest earthquake ever recorded in the area, which also destroyed buildings in Milan. The cathedral was rebuilt in Romanesque style and inaugurated in 1187 by Pope Urban III. The structure has remained the same, despite many wonderful modifications in Gothic, Renaissance and a few golden Baroque additions. The last major intervention was in the 19th century, with the new neoclassical flooring.
